A TREASURY, not a regular collection,

This is not what I expected. Instead of an annual collection, this is a "treasury" of their favorite strips involving a specific character, Pierce. Most of them are duplicated in older collections. If you're fond of Pierce, then you might like this, but I was hoping for the next year's worth of regular strips.

Where's the new stuff??,
By David T (Phoenix, Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pierced: A Zits Close-Up (Zits Sketchbook) (Paperback)
I'm a BIG Zits fan and think it's one of the best comics out there. Because of that I have every "sketchbook" and anxiously await the new ones. I just saw this on Saturday and it's just ANOTHER rehash of old stuff. What gives!
I KNOW there are new Zits comics out there, plenty to fit into at least 2 or 3 (or more) sketchbooks. So where are they? I don't know if this is the syndicate not releasing new material or the artists (I suspect the syndicate). Come on guys, give us some NEW stuff. We're waiting to BUY it!!!!

After that Jeremy and Mom rehash, I was so sure this would be a new collection, but no. What the hell 's the matter with it?

Great collection of Pierce strips,

Apparently some people can't read, and certainly didn't open the book. From the very first panels, it is apparent from the style of drawing that this contains old strips. The title clearly states it is a "close up" of pierce and it is HILARIOUS!! I love this character and it is great to see the best strips with him all grouped together. Yes I had seen them before, but it had been years for some and they still make me laugh, sometimes out loud. If you love Zits and especially Pierce, then you will enjoy this collection!!

RIP-OFF!,

Fortunately my pre-order got delayed, and I got to see inside the book here at Amazon. Lucky me, because my surprise was huge! Another rehash! We, true fans of Zits, wait for months for another sketchbook, and they produce three treasuries in a row! Shame on you.

Beware: A Treasury,

I had thought that "sketchbook" referred to a new collection, unlike a treasury. This book is a collection of previously published strips about Pierce. I ordered it and I don't think Amazon will refund shipping fees if I made a mistake. Perhaps sketchbook refers to the size of the book - I am newly confused.

Disappointing - collection of know strips,
By
This review is from: Pierced: A Zits Close-Up (Zits Sketchbook) (Paperback)
If you thing that you'll get new strips with this book - forget it. This is not Sketchbook #13 and the product description is misleading.
The book contains a collection of old and known ZITS strips which feature Pierce - but as they are ripped from the whole story they loose part of their appeal. Some new strips at the very end - but not enought to justify a purchase. Buy the sketchbooks instead of this collection. Disappointing - 3 stars for the general quality of ZITS and the few new ones in the end.

It is NOT a sketchbook!!! -- I felt I was cheated,

I bought every one of the sketchbooks. The description says "#13 sketchbook", but it is just a collection about Pierce. I felt I was cheated out of $10.

Pierce,

Pierce is one of my favorite characters in Zits and I was happy to find out about the new sketchbook dedicated just for him. SOme of these sketches had been published before also in other Zits collections.

Great comparison model for parents of "difficult" teens,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Pierced: A Zits Close-Up (Zits Sketchbook) (Paperback)
One way that the parents of a difficult teenager can make themselves feel better is by comparing their teen to others in order to make their child look good. In these cartoons, Pierce serves as the ideal example of what could be worse. He is a walking advertisement for tattoo and body piercing shops, is a drummer in a rock band and has bizarre tastes in everything. Nothing makes Pierce feel worse than being complemented for being a social blender.
Jeremy is a more normal teen that makes friends with Pierce when he arrives as the new kid in school. Jeremy's parents have a difficult time with Pierce as they try to adjust to their child having an unusual friend. The cartoons are generally very funny because Pierce is fundamentally not a bad kid; he has an enormously big heart and is very much environmentally aware. Cartoons perform many functions in life, they can mirror it or they can make it more bearable. In this case, the cartoons can make the often-difficult teen years (for the parent) easier to deal with, for they give you an opportunity to laugh at your troubles. |
