5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic photographic gallery of body piercings.
This book contains a wonderful array of tasteful, artful and beautiful photographs of body piercings. The piercings range from the socially accepted ear lobe to the more confronting genital piercings, although all are presented with sensitivity and humour.

I've never been so disappointed in a book.I'm into body piercing/tattoo photography books,so I was excited about this one.But it turned out to be filled with nothing but sickeningly glossy, airbrushed, pretentiously "arty" close-ups of rather conventional facial piercings(for the most part).Boring,no edge whatsoever. If you want a few really cool books of this...

This review is from: Body Piercing (Spanish and English Edition) (Paperback)
This book contains a wonderful array of tasteful, artful and beautiful photographs of body piercings. The piercings range from the socially accepted ear lobe to the more confronting genital piercings, although all are presented with sensitivity and humour.

I absolutely loved this book for its sensible and not 'freakish' portrayal of body piercing. The authors see piercing as an art form, not a subculture for the lost generation. These pictures are the most expressive and appropriate I have seen of body art.

This book will be a welcome surprise for all fans of body piercing, whether already pierced or thinking about becoming adorned.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFUL, August 23, 2000

this book is beautiful, nuff said, it is not "hard core" like alot of the piercing, body mod books out there, this one actually looks at it like a western tribal ritual. it doesnt follow the stereotypes of modern piercing being scary, or in bad taste, i think it compliments the piercing world rather well, and quite frankly, i am sick of seeing body art as some sort of a fetish, or a cry for help (As my mom used to say ;)) it portrays bodyart as i wish it to be known as, a body modification, something that makes body art more interesting, and pleasing to the eye. 5 stars from me, i am a piercer myself and i am not easily impressed. the book itself should not be mistaken for a referance book, it is strictly a photographic print book. just to let you know

1.0 out of 5 stars Superficial, August 29, 2001

I couldn't agree less with the other reviews. Tons of navel piercings (which already says a lot). Right away, most pictures (not all) look like the models are professional models, which bothered me a great deal. In fact the images could make their way to glossy fashion magazines. My advice would be to get some such magazines and not this book. And if you would get this book for the "piercing" then there is much better to get as well, as most piercings featured are middle of the road, fashionable ones, not too creative at all (like in "bad art").
The techniqual quality of the photos is irreprocheable, but to sum it up there is little or no content.
Sorry to hear that piercing professionals use this book (hard to believe actually, unless your clientèle needs to be convinced that piercings can be fashionable - and don't you have a portfolio to show?)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was hopeing for, July 13, 2005
This review is from: Body Piercing (Spanish and English Edition) (Paperback)
If you are looking for a book that will help you with piercing, this is not it. The body art was nice, but lacked alot variety. Good book for coffee table art! Not a informational book if you want to know how its done or what it takes.

This is a very well-done photographic essay on body piercing. The photos are imaginative, technically excellent, and more than a few display a wry wit. The jewelry displayed in the piercings are works of art in themselves. This book would be an excellent tool to help "win over" someone who finds piercings distasteful, by showing just how artistic they can be.

dont get me wrong..the photography in the book is great but the only piercings featured are navels and eyebrows and nipples and pretty much any other super commen boring piercings..if you are interested in basic, run of the mill piercings then this book is great. however, if you are looking for something a bit more extreme, do not waste your time on this book.

This book is definately eye candy for the piercing enthusiast. I have one for my tattoo shop and another one for home. It is full of pictures of all different people, from all different walks of life with one thing in common. They all love their bodies and are not shy showing off their even most personal piercings. Drawn in originally by the cover (an actual ring for the O) and now I use it as a way to show different piercings to customers and friends alike.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad, December 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Body Piercing (Spanish and English Edition) (Paperback)
Unoriginal, uninteresting, uninformative (even at the level of the esthetics, ie. only the most common piercings are featured, and I can't find the jewelry that beautiful either, at all), predictable, shallow. I looked through the book when I received it and, sorely disappointed, returned the book within the hour.
