5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Exploration of an Esoteric Subject, April 9, 2006
By
Omnibus (San Francisco) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pierre Bayle's Reformation: Conscience and Criticism on the Eve of the Enlightenment (Hardcover)
This treatise focuses on a subject that most of us would avoid as uninteresting and boring. Dr. Tinsley, however, has an unusual instinct for pulling clear ideas from a "tiny" corner of history and endowing it with substance and "light." She writes beautifully and obviously loves her subject. It is not a mystery book that one can read in 2 hours. It requires time to think along with the author. And the result? The reader learns and enlarges his thinking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Attn Amazon! The previous review should be removed!, May 6, 2004

...as it is not actually a review and appears to be a personality assessment of the author only. Thanks for your attention.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazon, Remove the Cristind Polemic, April 9, 2006
This review is from: Pierre Bayle's Reformation: Conscience and Criticism on the Eve of the Enlightenment (Hardcover)
I have never seen anything like this. Cristin Blue Davenport, of Palo Alto, child, you have the most abominable wish list on Amazon for an adult? You should have used the "Kids Review Form." Of the 23 items on your wish list, most are barbie dolls! Goodness, girl, someone who says "I love kids and pigs and Ancient History," wouldn't understand history if God taught it to her. My reason for responding is the total inappropriateness of your DIATRIBE again a professor. This page is for reviews, not teaching evaluations. I can see why you did not read the book - you probably cannot read. Amazon should have removed this diatribe. Hope your parents see this.
