A good resource for the cichlid lover., December 13, 2000
This review is from: Pierre Brichard's Book of Cichlids and All the Other Fishes of Lake Tanganyika (Hardcover)
This is one of my favorite books. Although I think it is over priced, Brichard does a wonderful job of presenting the fish of Lake Tanganyika. This book provides wonderful photos of virtually all of the fish and color morphs. The information provided on each fish is excellent as well. This is a must have for the serious cichlidiot.

This review is from: Pierre Brichard's Book of Cichlids and All the Other Fishes of Lake Tanganyika (Hardcover)
This book is chock-full of color pictures and documentation on the various cichlids from Africa's enormous Lake Tanganyika. I was totally impressed with the expertise Pierre Brichard conveys about these incredibly intelligent and colorful fish.

The King of African Cichlids Tells All, December 20, 2003
This review is from: Pierre Brichard's Book of Cichlids and All the Other Fishes of Lake Tanganyika (Hardcover)
The late Pierre Brichard was one of the very first exporters of African cichlids, especially those of Lake Tanganyika, as well as an avid photographer of them. He discovered numerous species, and several fish species are named for him (including Teleogramma brichardi, Synodontis brichardi, and Neolamprologus brichardi, "the fairy of Burundi"). This book was his major literary work. It bears some of the sloppy editing that is so typical of TFH publications, and in some ways it is quite dated by now, but still, if you're interested in Tanganyikan fishes, you've really got to have this book. There is no substitute.
