Pierre Mendell has been designing the posters for the Bavarian State Opera in Munich since 1993. Using a simple, almost archaic, visual language he has successfully created an unmistakable identity for the opera. Posters for the Opera collects eighty posters made by Mendell as well as short texts by Sir Peter Jonas, Ulrike Hessler, Florian Hufnagel, Karl Michel Armer and Lars Müller pay tribute to different aspects of Mendell's posters, highlighting their special features.
