5.0 out of 5 stars love it- for my 6 month old!
Very clever, short book with a smart punchline and great little drawings. It may not be the full 'pigeon' experience, but my six month old adores it! and we like reading it to him too - it's easy to put lots of expression into it. It's a board book - it's meant to be short!

2.0 out of 5 stars Why a board book that doesn't stand on its own?
It seems to me that the board book format is designed for younger children than the original Pigeon books. Therefore, this book (and its companion, The Pigeon Has Feelings Too) should be able to stand alone and be read first. However, neither book makes much sense if you don't know the stories told in the originals.

It seems to me that the board book format is designed for younger children than the original Pigeon books. Therefore, this book (and its companion, The Pigeon Has Feelings Too) should be able to stand alone and be read first. However, neither book makes much sense if you don't know the stories told in the originals.

I am a librarian who ordered these board titles for a public library. My fear is that someone will find these books first and be turned off before they can discover the entertaining originals.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, June 3, 2005

My young son and I are huge pigeon fans, having loved the first two books. When I saw that Willems was releasing two new pigeon books, I was very excited and ordered them immediately. Perhaps if I had waited, I would have seen that these are "board books," i.e. only a few "pages" long. My son enjoyed "reading" the "things that go" (a bus, train, airplane and...hot dog?), and laughed at the appearance of the little duck in connection to the last item, but it was very short and forgettable. I guess it's a cute enough book, but know that it is just a "smigeon of pigeon," not a full book.

I have a 3 year old and 5 year old who love the books of Mo Willems. Recently the 5 year old took this book to school as his 'show and tell' in order to read it to his class. It was a huge success! We started our Mo Willems collection with 'Don't let the Pidgeon drive the Bus', we've added 'the Pidgeon finds a Hotdog' and 'Don't let the Pidgeon stay up late' and just recently added this book and 'the pidgeon has feeling too'. I love these books because my kids love them and that encourages them to keep reading! Well done Mo Willems.

I love "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and thought this would be like it. It was very simplistic and good for a 1 year old or so. Still love the pigeon!

I guess I misunderstood what a "board book" was. If you're slow like me, let me elaborate. It means the book is 5 pages and 20 words long. Read time of 20 seconds. My 2 year old was so excited for another pigeon book, and really puzzled when it was over so quickly.

Our first Mo Willems book was Knuffle Bunny and we were hooked. We've sinced bought 4 more of his books including The Pigeon Loves Things That Go! They're all great. Our kids love them and for kids books they're pretty darn amusing for adults too. Good stuff!

My grandson Max and I love Mo Willems books. I think our favorites are "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" which was the first one we bought and then next would be "The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog" then this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wrong book every time!, July 23, 2011

I ordered this book twice and Amazon sent me the wrong Pigeon book each time. Finally I gave up. I was reimbursed for the book and didn't have to send the second copy back, so I guess that was good. Someday I'll pick this book up at the book store and find out what I think of it!
