5.0 out of 5 stars Glitch is About Content Not Technology
The original "Glitch" video is a no/lo budget tour documentary, shot on everything from VHS to 16mm film. The sound mostly came from camera mics, not the board. The live cuts are really what the audience members are seeing since that's where most of the tapes came from - the fans. No fancy camera tricks, no video effects (except a "kiki" wipe which is still cool),...

3.0 out of 5 stars There's only one reason to buy this....
And that reason is: you're a huge Pigface fan and don't already own Glitch and Son Of A Glitch.

The picture quality is low. The sound quality is lower than low, in most parts. And the way the bonus features are designed is really stupid. It isn't that hard to include a "play all" button, now is it??

So that's it, plain and simple. I wouldn't even consider...

5.0 out of 5 stars Glitch is About Content Not Technology, August 17, 2004
This review is from: Pigface: '90 - '96 (DVD)
The original "Glitch" video is a no/lo budget tour documentary, shot on everything from VHS to 16mm film. The sound mostly came from camera mics, not the board. The live cuts are really what the audience members are seeing since that's where most of the tapes came from - the fans. No fancy camera tricks, no video effects (except a "kiki" wipe which is still cool), sometimes the camera isn't quite in focus or it drifts off the main subject to wander the stage (Happy Birthday in Detroit). That's why its called GLITCH. Its Pigface, warts and all in 1990/91.

Now that its on DVD, people think that somehow it will look BETTER. Wake up and smell the technology...DVD isn't magic, its just video compression. People complain about the "low quality" of the DVD. Well it was low quality when it was originally released on VHS. And now fans are paying $76 for an original copy of Glitch because its out of print. Why? The low quality is part of the content - plus the famous (and not so famous) faces, the music, the crazy scenes of fun and mayhem. The Bottom Line: If you're going to nitpick about technology then this ain't for you.

Personally I would have liked to have seen some different outtakes - there's a lot that didn't make the original cut. Maybe someday we'll have a very historic version with commentary by Martin Atkins and the band. That would be even better. BUT: Ultimately, Glitch stands on its own - its a great rock video no matter what. I'd rather watch this "little train that could" instead of some overblown glimmering "rawk show."

So that's it, plain and simple. I wouldn't even consider showing this to someone to introduce them to Pigface. If you're as obsessed with Pigface as most of their fans seem to be then go ahead and pick it up, otherwise, don't bother.

2.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, October 15, 2005

I'm a pretty big Pigface fan, actually. And I expected that the quality of this DVD wouldn't be terribly amazing, but come on! my main beef was with the sound. People buy music DVDs largley for the music, you know? The music on this DVD constantly cuts in and out, twitches and skips making it moreless unwatchable (testes on 3 seperate players - just to make sure) Another beef.. The packaging lists two Public Image LTD covers under extras.. Those covers do not exist on this DVD. I was quite looking forward to seeing them and it was a deciding factor in my purchase

...and they wonder why people download DVDs instead of buying...

Maybe I missed the point of the DVD. The titles "Glitch" and "Son of a Glitch" are correct if it means that this is super low quality DVD and there are many glitches that seem intentional. Maybe I just have a bad copy. But at least seeing Ogre and Reznor singing on stage made my day, that's the only reason this DVD got my 3 stars.
