Let me be as brief as possible. yes these are thick sheets, and yes they are cheap for a Queen size --- but they are rough and far from soft. I'm a 28 year old guy, so I assure you, I'm not just wining about these sheets because they're wrinkled when they come out of the dryer. both myself and my girlfriend find them uncomfortable. Definately tolerable, but the fact that my preivous sets of 600 thread count sheets were far softer makes it clear that there is more to consider than the thread count.
I've done extensive travel in Youth Hostels in Central America and Europe staying at places as little ast $10 / night= those places had softer sheets. Please beware and spend the extra $20 and check out sheets at a store. don't make the same mistake i did.
Given the variance in reviews, i'm thinking Pike street is a brand that buys discounted sheets from a third party and repackages them for a profit.
UPDATE 8/1/10***** - I retract my earlier statement about these being tolerable. I'm an idiot for not returning them when i could. After washing a few times, they become so course and rough, they're only suitable to make up a dog's bed. I wouldn't even use them for guests sleeping on the bed in a frat house. They are the worst sheets i've encountered in nearly 30 years.
