5.0 out of 5 stars excellent value for money
At almost $80, these are among the most expensive sheets I've bought -- and they're terrific, worth every penny. They're substantial in weight and were soft from the very beginning, almost flannel-like, but smoother. I've bought other high thread-count sheets before; nothing else has felt like this. They go on easily. My husband willingly makes the bed alone with...

1.0 out of 5 stars Lesson Learned: Quality of the Cotton matters more than the Thread Count
Well this product is a case in point on why the quality of the cotton matters more than the threadcount. To me this product seems more like a marketing gimmick than a genuine luxury design. Well this product is a case in point on why the quality of the cotton matters more than the threadcount. To me this product seems more like a marketing gimmick than a genuine luxury design. If you took away the 1,000 figure and did a simple hands on test you would rank these sheets near the bottom.

While these sheets are thick and I have every reason to believe they are 1,000 thread count they are made in china and were made using commoditized, low grade short-staple cotton. The fabric, after repeated washings, is rough and would probably remind the user more of a drape or low quality, screen printed comforter than a high end sheet. It is not particularly comfortable to rest your face on, I have 200 thread count sheets which are much softer, supple and inviting.

These were not worth the eighty dollar price tag - I would recommend looking for Sea Island Cotton or Egyptian cotton in the 250 threat count arena - it will feel so much better.

*** Warning: Amazon Editor's are posting positive reviews of these products. I believe editorial views should be kept in the editorial section and not intermixed with customer reviews... M. Bohlmann "KitchenMaus" (Seattle, WA USA) in particular has reviewed 4 Pike St./Pinzon products - that is a conflict of interest. There are quite a few Seattle, WA reviews as well which makes me think some of these other people were also Amazon employees looking to jumpstart 5 Star reviews to bump up the popularity of the Amazon.com sponsored product (ie. Pike St. = Amazon)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Top Quality Bedding, October 3, 2008

I ordered this set on a 4 for 3 special, so the final $56 per set was enticing. The backordered items finally arrived yesterday and my initial impression was disappointing. I washed the linen-colored sheets to see how they would wear over time. Beyond the price, this set has very deep pockets and appears that it will be durable, but its good points end there.

Sateen shine? After a single wash it is a dull brown. Soft? Only fair, even with softened water and added softener sheets. Comfortable? The sheets are oppressively heavy, really muslin weight, and unsuitable for any but the coldest evenings. They came out of the dryer extremely wrinkled and resting across the bed overnight did not help. I'm returning all 4 sets today.

I really thought these sheets would be super soft and oh-so-amazing to sleep on. Imagine my surprise when I get them and they are stiff and so thick. I know that's possibly a good thing but for a hot sleeper like myself, I do not care for the super thick sheets. My husband - whom is the coldest sleeper on earth, even sweated his butt off with these suckers on the bed. As for texture - my BEST comparison is to a new pair of jeans. They may be soft after much wearing and washing but that's what they feel like after two washings + fabric softener.

VERY dissapointed!

I waited a long time for these sheets. I don't know if you changed
manufacturer or what. The sheets I recieved will certainly wear well; They are heavy and thick, like a tent tarp, but just about as rough. I
am hoping that with multiple washings they will get better. I am so
disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars LIKE SLEEPING ON CARDBOARD, May 4, 2009

I ordered these sheets after reading some good reviews and seeing that the price was low in comparison to other 1000 thread count sheets. I thought I was treating myself to something nice but that is not the case, these sheets are so stiff and the furthest thing from soft, they are the most uncomfortable set I've ever owned. I have a set of 500 thread count that are so much better. I've bought many things on Amazon before and have usually been satisfied but these sheets are a scam!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Sheets I've Ever Seen - Completely Misrepresented!!, February 24, 2009

This review is from: Pike Street 1000-Thread Count Luxury Single-Ply Sateen Sheet Set (Kitchen)
These sheets are on the Amazon's site as 1000 Thread Count Cotton Sheets. The quality of the cotton must really matter. These sheets are more like a canvas used for painting or covering up a boat! They weigh a ton!! I have slept on 300 count sheets that were softer than these. They were a total waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AWFUL!

This review is from: Pike Street 1000-Thread Count Luxury Single-Ply Sateen Sheet Set (Kitchen)
I ordered these sheets thinking wow a 1000 thread count, but I am sorry I washed tham twice and still not even near soft, waste of time and money, I have 800 in an other brand and much better. I would have returned them, but I,ll just learn and pass it on.Pike Street 1000-Thread Count Luxury Single-Ply Sateen California King Sheet Set, Chocolate

These are without a doubt, a 100% misrepresented description of an item. These sheets felt like a smooth burlap sack. I couldnt have been more unhappy with an item.

These sheets feel about as rough as 100-thread count sheets. They really don't feel very nice against your skin. They're also stiff and way too thick. I have 400- and 600-thread count sheets that are so much softer than these sheets. These sheets are a complete waste of money. Don't be fooled.

I've already washed my sheets several times, and they're still rough, thick, and unpleasant to the touch. The only thing remotely good about these sheets is that they don't wrinkle, but I don't think that makes them worth the price.
