I have bought flannel sheets from Amazon before but they were from Martex and they were greate. But, these are just bad. They are too thin to start with, left lint all over the bed and even after washing they have left fuzzies all over the sheets, I cannot even explain how bad it is. I should have waited for another Martex deal.

These were VERY disappointing. As with all sheets, they need to be washed when they arrived. On the first cycle, they lost at least 50% of their thickness. Oh, that didn't disappear... all the lint turned up in my dryer (6 cups of it, by the way). Even then, the sheets had pills of flannel fabric all over them... which meant they needed another wash/dry cycle. That one produced 4 cups of lint, and by the time they'd been shaken out (the excess fluff flew everywhere!) they were thin and not all that soft.
I'd followed the manufacturers instructions to wash them in warm on the first run-through, but decided to wash them in cold afterwards. Likewise, although the manufacturer says to dry them on medium heat, the poor quality of the sheets made me worry about shrinkage. Well, it turns out I had a valid concern. My husband and I had to tug and stretch these to get the fitted sheet on to our king-sized mattress, and the top sheet has barely any overhang on the sides. The pillow cases hardly fit the king-sized pillows as claimed. And the fuzz? It's all over our bedroom. About the only positive thing I have to say for these is that I love the brick red color we purchased. I'm so disappointed (and so tired of cleaning red fuzz from my bedroom floor, bedspread and pajamas) that I won't buy anything from this manufacturer again.

Beware - poor quality,

I ordered these sheets based on previously posted positive reviews. These sheets are a big disappointment-- the green is more "lawn" green than "forest" green, so thin you can see light through them, lots of lint as others have noted, and grey dust balls inside the package when I opened it! Save your money and don't buy this product.

Buy the pastel colors!!,
By
This review is from: Pike Street Solid Flannel Full Sheet Set, Brick Red (Kitchen)
After reading the reviews, it seemed that the pastel colors were the best, so decided to order. I ordered 2 full size in sky blue and pink. I thought I ordered a king size in ivory, but evidently goofed and ordered brick red. So now I can compare the light colors and dark colors. I washed all before using, as stated in the instructions. The dye on the red ones ran a lot. I use these "color catcher" sheets that are supposed to catch any dye that leaks out of items. I put 2 in the wash with the red sheets and both were very red when the wash finished. The pastels were much better. In the dryer, I had to empty my lint trap twice during the cycle for the red ones. The others weren't quite as bad. Red one had LOTS of fuzz and pills on them. Pastels, not as bad. On the bed, (after using up all of the sheets on a disposable lint brush trying to get rid of the "fuzzies"), the sheets are very warm and comfortable. They are a little thinner than I expected, but still very cozy. I don't recommend the dark colors due to the "fuzz" factor and colors running in the wash. Pastels are warm and cozy, too, without the fuzz factor. Overall, not bad for the price. (I paid $9.99 each)

Horrendous!,

I bought 2 sets each of the twin size Brick and Navy Blue.
I opened and washed 1 of each color - seperately because of the pillig issue I read - and even after 4 wash and drys (and FULL dryer filter cleanouts after each dry) - they STILL have bits coming off . To top it off, with all the 'fuzz' in the dryer filter - they are now no longer as soft and thick as when I first opened the package and they haven't even been used yet. I see from some reviews that the light solid colors seem to not have the same issue so maybe this is some type of dye process issue.

I bought these sheets on sale thinking they'd make a nice backup set to my existing flannels. We received them and they felt soft, if a little thin. Unfortunately, after my wife ran them through a laundry cycle, the sheets became covered in lint and were quite "pilly". We tried washing them again but it didn't have much of an effect, other than filling up our dryer's lint screen again. I suggested that we at least try putting the sheets on the bed but as soon as we started to put them on, we could see a copious amount of red lint starting to stick to our mattress pad, pillowcases, and virtually every other surface within 5 feet of the sheets. My beagle looked like Elmo! (OK, not really on that last part.) All kidding aside, we were too frustrated at the quality of the sheets to bother trying to make them work any more, and got rid of them. Definitely not recommended.

Disappointed with these sheets,
This review is from: Pike Street Solid Flannel Queen Sheet Set, Pink (Kitchen)
I didn't expect much for the price, but ordered as the reviews (at the time) were so favorable. I was surprised when I opened the box. I ordered the pink set as a gift and found them covered with black lint. As I'd never give these as a gift, I washed them figuring I'd keep them for my guest room. Well, the pillowcases do not fit on the pillows, the sheets don't fit my 14" mattress and they're very thin. I love Amazon and purchase often, but I'm shocked they would offer such an inferior quality product.

Looking for a nice warm flannel sheet and these are it. Washed prior to use, lint trap was overflowing. Sheets were pilled beyond belief. Product should have come with one of those fabric shavers. Can't believe they are this bad. I'd give no stars if I could.

If you like LINT, you'll love these sheets.,

I agree with another reviewer who had a big problem with the lint factor on the red sheets. I like the color. They're kind of thin, but that's okay. They are soft. BUT...I had to clean the lint filter twice during one drying cycle. I washed them twice to see if it was just the intitial washing that created all of the lint, but it was almost as bad the second time. And there were still lots of lint balls all over the sheets when I took them out of the dryer. I don't plan on using these sheets. I'm very sorry I bought them and would return them if I could. Maybe the lighter colors are better, but I won't be spending any more money to find out.

SEE UPDATE BELOW .... BOTTOM LINE, NOT RECOMMENDED ... TO0 LATE FOR US, but SAVE YOURSELVES!!!! :)
We changed mattress size when buying a new one, so I needed all new bed linens. Feeling in the holiday festive spirit, I ordered one set of forest green and one set of red to "decorate" the bed for Christmas. My initial impression was not good - the sheets were full of particles and threads of other colors like I've never encountered with sheets, which put me off. I washed them and they were quite soft and comfortable, but after two washings, they're shedding quite a lot more than any of the JC Penney or Eddie Bauer flannels I've had in the past. I use a lint brush on them once on the bed to try to remove the excess shedding. If I had it to do all over again, I'd have paid the extra to buy from JC Penney or Lands End. That said, I paid only $31.98 for these two king size sheet sets, so for the money, they're not bad. I mean, what do we all expect for sheets that cost $14.99 a set? I live in a climate where flannels are only needed for 3 months or so at most and these were purchased for whimsical use, so I consider them worth what I paid for them. I recommend drying the top and bottom sheets separately and by themselves (with no other items in the washer or dryer unless you want fuzzies all over them), which I believe moves the shedding more effectively to the lint filter/trap. If you dry them together, what sloughs off will move to the other sheet. I would not recommend giving these as a gift. UPDATE ON 12/24/06 - If I could, I'd downgrade to a 1 star, as the sheets just get worse - and the red ones pilled beyond horrible. I'm taking the time to update in the hopes of preventing others from making the same mistake - even at the current $5.99 price, these are no bargain. I bought these for Christmas use and will continue to use a lint brush daily on the comforter, blankets, carpet and sheets themselves until I change the sheets on Friday and then I'm afraid these bad boys will be thrown away. By the time you pay to return to Amazon and they deduct the fees for free shipping, it's not worth the effort to send them back. These sheets accurately reflect their price - cheap. |
