Pike Street Throw - There are two kinds!,

I just recieved my new Pike Street throws I bought in the Black Friday sale for $9.99. I also have the previous version which was sold 2006/2007. The reviews of this time period, of which I am one with 5 stars, were for the original throw. They were packaged in a white plastic bag. They were 50 X 70 inches. The new throws come in a clear plastic zippered bag and are 50 x 60 inches. The new throw colors have different names: Camel, Olive, Espresso, and Brick instead of Beige, Green, and Chocolate. If you see throws with the old names, I believe they will be more expensive. The new throws have a small rolled edge instead of the flat stitched edge. The stitching across the throw to make squares is farther apart in the new throws, making the squares larger. This could cause bunching after washing but I haven't washed them yet and cannot say for sure. The top 'suede-like' top fabric feels the same as the original throws and I find it very soft and appealing. The underside fabric is not as nice in the new throws. It is thinner and slicker. The old throw's underside fabric was more textured, almost slightly fuzzy feeling. I like the feeling of the old ones much better. I recieved the Camel, Olive and Brick and compared them to the Beige, Green, and Chocolate old throws. The thickness of the throws and the feel of the insides are the same. There is a slippery feel when you squeeze the insides between your fingers. I assume this is the poly-fill and the 'gel' that is supposed to be inside.
So, it boils down to two different throws. The new ones have rolled edges, less stitching, a less pleasant (but not UNpleasant) backing fabric, and is 10 inches shorter. I rated the new throws 4 stars instead of 5 because of the smaller size and less pleasant feel.

Very Nice for the Price,

I was somewhat disappointed when I first opened the package and discovered how lightweight the throw was. I live in northern Michigan and had hoped for something nice and warm to cuddle up in at night while watching TV. I must say, though, that after trying it out, I was pleasantly suprised at how warm it was. While not as heavy as I had hoped it would be, it is the nicest throw for the price I've seen and is perfect if you don't live in the frozen north (unless you buy two and double them up!). I bought 4 more for gifts and know they will be very much appreciated.

Excellent,
This review is from: Pike Street Wraparound Comfort Throw, Green (Kitchen)
I bought one of these in Chocolate when it first showed up in the Gold Box deals (when they were still 10.99). I was so impressed that I immediately bought a bunch more as gifts. I also picked up a Beige for myself, and recently bought a Green (at the raised 12.99 price) to round out my collection.
The blanket is a bit thinner than I was initially expecting, but there is definitely down in it, and it's got stitching that keeps the filling from ending up bunched up at one end of the blanket. It folds up nicely, but fluffs up when you shake it, and is SO WARM and *incredibly* soft. It's a great size for snuggling on the couch or even for throwing over yourself at night if you get chilly in bed. Everyone who got one of these as a gift from me was just as impressed. It feels like soft suede on one side, and has a cloth-like feel on the other. The stitching is excellent, no loose threads on any of the ones I've received (two, plus three that I had shipped to me as gifts for office co-workers, and haven't heard about any problems from the others who I had them shipped directly to, though they all tell me they have to fight their kids for the blankets when they want to sit on the couch!). While it's a bummer that the price was raised before the end of the sale date, and that they are sold out of the Beige and Chocolate colors, I still highly recommend this blanket. The Green is a little lighter than I expected (a little more of a sage color) - otherwise, the other colors looked just as I thought they would. Even though the price has gone up, it's still a steal at only 12.99 - I've seen similar blankets in stores for three times this price, and they weren't as soft or nice looking. Even if Green doesn't match your decor, it's still worth it to pick one up even if you just keep it in the closet in case you get cold one night.

Did I get the wrong throw?,

I was really looking forward to getting this after the great reviews. Did I get a defective one? This is completely flat and thin and not warm at all. One look at the label tells you that this is 80% polyester and only 20% down feathers. So it is a flat polyester-filled throw without much polyester.

Throw-away,

I ordered a few of these throws and liked them at first. They were a nice size and weight - not too bulky. The quality seemed to be decent for the (reduced) price, with just a few trailing threads. The reversible surfaces, suede-like and microfiber added a nice visual touch.
They're machine washable, but after a few washes they started shedding feathers all over the place, and sadly they had to go. I was washing them every couple of weeks. If you wash them less frequently they might be more durable. Definitely not worth it at full price. And not worth it for me at the reduced price. It's a shame, because I had hopes.

Good deal but color different than expected,

For $10.99, this throw is a good deal. There are some quality issues (poor stitching, loose threads), but since I purchased these for my dogs I'm not so concerned with the flaws. The throws are soft and seem somewhat durable. I am slightly worried they will fall apart after washing (suggested instructions say to wash in cold water). The green is a very soft light green (not quite sage but not a true green). The beige is very, very light (the reverse being almost off-white). I'd recommend this item because it is a good value (although I'd never pay the list of $40 -- that's simply ridiculous!)

misleading description - too small,

The product description says this throw is 50inch by 70inch and will cover you from head to toe.
It seems from some of the good reviews that this refers to another product of similar design. THIS throw is much smaller and will NOT cover even your legs properly if you are an slighty taller than average or more adult. Maybe not even for an average adult. Certainly not head to toe unless you are very short in stature or a kid.

This wrap-around is great. It's nicely made and is very warm. We bought 5 of these to use as couch blankets. They're well made and very cozy. I'll probably buy a few more to keep in the car for cold winter days.

Beautiful Throws Well Worth The Money,

I also bought three of these in chocolate when they were at the sale price of $10.99. Well, RAVE reviews this morning for the lucky family members who received them ! They are on the "thin" side, but warm warm. They are cuddly soft. The perfect softness and side for cuddling up on the couch or as an extra blanket on top of the bed if it's an extra cold night. I came back to order more for those family members who did not receive one this morning, as well as one for my self. A great blanket at an excellent price, even at the increased cost to $12.99. Two more for me in green and we are all warm and happy !

Comfy, Soft and Oh So Nice!!,

This review is from: Pike Street Wraparound Comfort Throw, Green (Kitchen)
I just ordered and recieved three of these throws. I ordered only the green and it is gorgeous. I have never had a throw/blanket that is so lite-weight but yet so warm. The fabric is very soft and cuddley. I sleep on a memory foam mattress and when you are between the mattress and this throw, you feel like you are sleeping in the clouds. Just a really nice throw and a great value. I came here tonight to order the beige and chocolate for my parents and my brother, only to find they are sold out...wah!!
