John Bunyan's life story is even more fascinating than his fictional "Pilgrim". The book is understated in that it merely states but does not explain the history going on all around Mr. Bunyan such as Oliver Cromwell, the Roundheads vs. the Caveliers, the execution of King James, etc. A few quick trips to Wikipedia will explain all and results in a pleasant education and better appreciation of what inspired John Bunyan to write and the great obstacles and personal tragedy he had to overcome to bring us The Pilgrims Progress.
