5.0 out of 5 stars A BRIEF BUT INTERESTING "EX-JEHOVAH'S WITNESS" TESTIMONY, March 29, 2011
This review is from: Pilgrimage Through the Watchtower (Paperback)
Kevin Quick "left the Jehovah's Witnesses organization in the mid-eighties. Since then he has counseled many disenchanted JWs and led them to a faith in Jesus Christ." He wrote this book in 1989.

Here are some quotations from the book:

"A typical Witness puts in an average of seven to eight hours of 'field service' per month. I personally put in from five to six hours per month, a little less than the national (U.S.) average. During the three and a half years that I spent as a bona fide, baptized Witness, however, I was never 'irregular' in field service. I never let a month go by without sharing in the witnessing work." (Pg. 32)
"Jehovah's Witnesses keep meticulous records of their door-to-door activities... These reports detail the number of hours spent in field service each month, the number of books and magazines sold, and the number of 'Bible studies' conducted... For me, as for the typical Witness, filling out the time report was a very unpleasant monthly ritual." (Pg. 34)
"Somehow, this 'lack of Jesus' at the Kingdom Hall began to bother me more than anything else. In thinking about this one meeting night at the Hall, I opened to the index of our new songbook, Sing Praises to Jehovah, and discovered that only about 7 of our 225 songs were about Jesus. Only 3%! Was something out of balance here?" (Pg. 50)
"...my confidence in the 'New World Translation' began to wane. Time after time I discovered what appeared to be deliberate mistranslations in the text of the NWT, particularly regarding the identity of Jesus." (Pg. 56)
