I'm generally surprised whenever a product meets or exceeds my expectations. This product exceeded them. The cutter is sturdy and it doesn't allow very many small pieces to escape (fly off in all directions) when you cut a pill. This was the main reason for which I bought this cutter, and I am very pleased with its performance in this respect.

The cutter works in the following way. There is a small peg sticking straight up from each of the four corners of the cutting surface. These pegs slide through corresponding holes in the clear plastic 'lid' that has the razor blade attached to its underside. As you push the pegs through the holes of the lid, the pill is cut as the lid closes down. In this way, pieces of the pill are, for the most part, kept from flying everywhere.

Compared to standard cutters, you have more leeway with regard to how you position the pill before you cut it, so it is easier to cut a pill precisely where you want to. The downside to this is that there is really nothing to hold the pill in place as you cut (except for the pressure you place on the blade itself), as there is with standard cutters.

As far as its general cutting ability, this cutter is about average. As is always the case, the cleanness of the cut will depend, to a significant degree, on the consistency and general constitution of the pill. As is standard, the blade used is a razor blade.

It appears that you can actually replace the razor blade of this cutter. I have not yet tried to find a replacement blade, but given that the blade used is a bit different in shape from what I would consider to be a 'standard' razor blade, I am not sure as to the actual availability of viable replacements.

This pill cutter is sturdy and well made. Like most pill cutters, it will not necessarily cut the pill into perfect divisions. It is more apt to actually break the pill, abeit in a pattern that resembles cutting. Thus, the divisions of the pill will not be exactly the same size, nor will their cut edges be perfectly smooth.

I love the pill cutter - I have 11 dogs and 5 have allergies to the grasses and weeds around our house so they are on medication for this allergy - the pill cutter just makes it so much easier to split the pills for the smaller dogs. I've used this for my own pills also.

Came quickly and does what it says...my husband uses it to cut his pills that have to be halved on the line....he used a small knife before and it was hard to do but this holds the pill in place and cuts it so it is good enough. Guess it does what it says it does fairly well.

This pill cutter was very poorly designed. There is nothing to hold the pill in place and by the time you get the top with the blade on, the pill has moved. I would never recommend this product to anyone.

I use pear-shaped pills. Thus, the cut ends are not identical. Despite the slight inconsistency in the cut pills, I am relatively satisfied. I can tolerate slight inconsistencies in the cut pills. The final product is much better than the cuts in made in pills with a knife alone.

Pretty much all I want out of a pill cutter. It cuts the pills in half and pieces don't go flying everywhere. Works great if you set it on the counter and then put the pill in so there's no chance for the pill to shift position before you push the blade down.

I purchased this pill cutter because of other good reviews. It's the WORST pill cutter that I have ever used.
While it has a magnifying glass built into lid I still have had trouble getting pills cut in half even when I can
see the blade right on the center of the pill. Bottom line. I would NOT recommend this pill cutter.

not much to say, It cuts pills :)The magnifying window helps to see the lines although most oblong pills are easy to break so I use these more for round ones.

I got this in hopes that I would be able to cut tiny pills into 1/8's. I thought the magnification would be wonderful. Not only did it not cut the pill into 1/8's, it wouldn't even cut the pill in 1/2 without crushing it. This might work okay for very large pills, but didn't work for what I need. Now I'm just using the bottom portion as a tray to hold the pills while I use an Apex pill cutter to cut the pills.
