5.0 out of 5 stars My dogs will wake from a coma when they smell these!, February 27, 2008
This review is from: Pill Pockets LARGE 7.9Oz (30 Beef Pockets) (Misc.)
I have 6 dogs... 1 takes valley fever pills & two are on thyroid pills and from time to time they require other medication.
They however are NOT willing to take it. Cheese, Peanut Butter, Cream Cheese etc. I've tried it all & They are wise to my tricks!

The Pill Pockets are great. They are so pliable that I just break off a piece of one, mold it around the pill and my dogs will nearly take my fingers off to get it!.

One of my dogs is deaf and when she is sleeping she has no idea we are there.. If I wave the Pill Pocket in front of her nose she wakes up and snatches it like a shark!

They are a bit expensive, but they last awhile if you just pull off the size needed for the pill.. It's a waste to use a whole one per pill. I can get about 4-5 pills out of 1 pocket.(using the large ones)

We have 2 dogs who are expert at ferreting out pills stuffed in anything and able to eat around them. Even the pill pockets did not work at first with our pickiest. However, after molding the pocket around the pill, I tried running some water over the glob and smoothing it all around with my finger. This made the pocket better sealed and created a gravy-like coating that even he now eats without hesitation. I think I may have finally proven to be smarter than a dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Solution for my pet's meds, January 27, 2008
This review is from: Pill Pockets LARGE 7.9Oz (30 Beef Pockets) (Misc.)
We have a very clever Rottie/Shepherd mix who HATES taking medicine. We tried everything - cheese cubes, hot dogs, chicken breast - and she always found a way to spit the pills out. I had resigned myself to force feeding her medicine until my friend suggested pill pockets. They are great - with a texture almost like moist clay. It is therefore possible to mold them around large and small pills. My dog really likes them. Definitely worth the purchase price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful product, but do the math to ensure a good deal, September 9, 2008
This review is from: Pill Pockets LARGE 7.9Oz (30 Beef Pockets) (Misc.)
First, Pill Pockets are a GREAT product that really works... before Pill Pockets, I only had a 50% success rate getting our three dogs to take their pills when we used hotdogs and even steak leftovers. With Pill Pockets, the pill always goes "down"! [Note: DON'T waste your money buying Pill Pockets for cats if you have dogs. I read a review (listed under another seller) that stated that it was more economical to buy the PillPockets for cats because you receive 45 instead of 35. Well, the reviewer failed to notice that the Pill Pockets for Cats only weighs 1.8 ounces, and the Pill Pockets (Small bag) for Dogs weighs 3.5 ounces!]

Buy the bag that, per ounce, is the least money. The Pill Pockets are like Beef Playdoh, and are easy to tear in half (we tear each one in half and wrap 1/2 around the dog's medication). Do a little research, and you'll save money. BTW, the multi-bag deals online at Amazon are not necessarily a good deal, be sure to divide the total cost by the number of bags you receive to see if you're saving $$.

NOTE: The size listed on the Pill Pocket's bag indicates the size of the pill pocket, not the dog. Large meds require larger Pill Pockets; small meds like phenobarbital require only the small or a piece of a large pill pocket. These things are great, and go down my dogs easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never Fight Your Dog Again!, December 14, 2010

I love, love, love this product! You never have to be slobered with saliva again trying to get your dog to take a pill, or pick up a saliva drenched pill off the floor! I actually get the bigger size and put 2 pills together in one pill pocket to save money. They are very soft, so even big pills will work with them. I put it in and kind of mold it to cover the top of the pill...takes a second. She loves them and it's her daily "treat"...I don't feel bad tricking her...she loves it.

The pill pockets are the best way to administer tablet medication that I have found. All my dogs, I have 3, devour them. I would use them for training aids, but for a regular training use it would be expensive. However medicine time is special treat time and the "kids" will do just about anything to get their pill pocket

5.0 out of 5 stars They work great!, October 22, 2010
This review is from: Pill Pockets LARGE 7.9Oz (30 Beef Pockets) (Misc.)
I have a 13 year old Beagle that I took in last year. He is now on 6-7 different medications/day, 5 of which are in pill form. The capsule pill pockets can fit 3 of those pills in just one treat! He quickly got sick of cheese, cream cheese, peanut butter, and I didn't feel too great about the butter my mom tried so I tried these. They work great! Without taking his medications regularly, he would get terribly sick and probably not last long. The pill pockets have made the mornings of me force feeding pills history and given me peace of mind. I'm grateful to have found them. Though I am currently looking for a place I can get them in bulk, cheaper, since I use about two a day. I recommend them to anyone having trouble giving pills to their dog.

I have a very finicky, old dog that is a pro at detecting medications. I had been unable to hide any medication he took on any type of food or product until I discovered these Pill Pockets. They were recommended by our vet, and they work! They are much more affordable online than at the local pet specialty stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST thing for medicating animals since...., April 22, 2010

This review is from: Pill Pockets LARGE 7.9Oz (30 Beef Pockets) (Misc.)
These pockets have helped me immensely! I take care of special needs dogs of which many are on daily meds. It is so convenient to be able to put their meds in a Pill Pocket and toss them in with their food. Dogs LOVE them and gobble them up like a treat. These are a must for anyone who has to medicate their animals on a regular basis.
