Perfect shorts for men,
By
This review is from: Pillar Men's Yoga Short w/inner liner (Dryflex version) (Apparel)
As a guy getting into yoga, I've found that finding shorts which work well for yoga isn't as easy as just finding a pair of gym shorts. These shorts are great. They're not too tight that they're like spandex clinging to every part of your body (just not my thing). But they're also not so lose that when you're in certain poses that they bunch or get stuck.
The outershort has enough flex that it will stretch at various leg movements without being uncomfortable. The inner liner is perfect for a yoga workout without ... well, revealing your usually hidden self. Certainly recommend. Worth the cost - you'll appreciate them, trust me.

I teach all week long and need lots of shorts, and am disatisfied with everything on the market. This short comes closest to meeting my needs. No fear of exposure and no impingement of mobility. I cannot wear black or dark colors while I teach, so the color choice is my #1 desire for improvement. Also, the short is a little too long for me to demonstrate proper leg action, so a slightly shorter short would make it even better.

I wanted yoga shorts that were not binding in any way and had some sort of inner liner that kept my more intimate parts from public exposure without needing separate underwear. These shorts did both jobs with flying colors. They also did not hold sweat, at least I never notice that they do, so I guess the "Dry" part of Dryflex is true.
I only have two quibbles that stopped me from giving them five stars. The drawstring is very thin and easy to get in a knot that is hard to see or untie. I even wonder if it is really needed, it might be for different body types than mine possibly. The other minor point is the tag on the waistband, it is annoying, being made of some non-soft material. I may just cut it off.

I've bought perhaps 12 different types of yoga shorts before finally finding the prefect yoga shorts. The Pillar Men's Yoga Short is it. It's been difficult finding a short that will keep your...um...man-parts safe and secure without being restrictive and uncomfortable. The fabric wicks away sweat and breathes well. The shorts are cut to be form-fitting but they completely allow for a full range of motion. This short is also prefect for gym workouts and weight-lifting, squats included. As with any active wear, I'm looking for clothing that allows me to do whatever I want, keeps me modest enough yet feel like I'm wearing nothing at all. This short fits the bill.

From the reviews on these I was expecting this to have a thicker liner and a bit more loose fit. Sadly this is not the case. I now use these shorts os my lounging/camping shorts because 1) my junk still shows through, in fact it was comically embarrassing when my buddies wife pointed this out to me. 2) My body type gives me thick thighs and as such I can not wear these because they about a few inches of material from turning into biker shorts.
Get something from prAna (the Flex shorts have a liner, or Mojo for more leg room) because their products are great and are about the same price. ++Material feel nice --- 'No Mystery Here' shorts

Great hot yoga shorts,

These shorts work perfectly for me for Bikram hot yoga practice. They absorb perspiration well, stretch with me through poses without binding and maintain coverage. The inner liner provides just enough support to keep things in place. Even when they are soaked I can wipe my sweaty hands off on the shorts to get a better grip. I am 5'-11", 178 lbs, 32" waist and the mediums fit well. I like that they have no pockets and are very simply constructed. No distractions.

These are great for hot Yoga. They don't buch up like the loose bathing suits but are not tight either - just right. There are no pockets.

My husband loves this short. His regular athletic shorts are too wide at the leg and sometimes hinder him while he is doing certain poses. This short moves with the body and has a liner for inversions. Would definitely recommend this short for guys who like yoga.

The first time I wore these to yoga my teacher came over and said "nice shorts" and he was wearing the same ones! He said (and I agree) that they are the perfect shorts for warm or hot yoga due to the inner liner. Also the fit is great, not too tight or loose. The length is good and the fabric has some friction to it so it will help hold your feet up when doing your "Tree".

I've tried regular workout shorts for Yoga but they can bind and the legs flop around or roll-up, especially during inverted poses. I have yoga pants, and while I like them, they are just too warm for yoga in the summer.
Even though they were kind of pricey, I decided to try a pair of these. They were shipped withing a day or two. They arrive stuffed in a USPS Priority Mail folder, the kind you put documents in. I was very pleased with these shorts. They fit close enough that the legs stay where they are supposed to, yet they are very flexible. I have not had any issues will pulling or binding in any pose. Some synthetic fabrics tend to trap moisture in, but these are very "breathable." One complaint is that I wished they had a little pocket in them, but I can get along without it. According to the label, they are made in California. It's hard to find US made clothes anymore. They can be machine washed and tumble dried, which is a plus. You need to use your gentle cycles. Even though the price is on the high side, I may be buying another pair. Recommended. |
