The best ever,
This review is from: The Pillars of Humanity (Audio CD)
This is the most amazing hardcore/metal album ever recorded.
I wish somebody would reissue it so it wasn't so expensive. Amen.

A slice of history that holds its own,

Albums like this have changed people's lives.
The Crucified created a brand of thrash metal that easily holds more than its own against their contemporaries like Slayer and Anthrax. The Crucified's sound is a great mix of punk rock roots, and heavy metal which leads to excellently written songs that use minimal guitar soloing, carefully placed double kick and drum fill, and a classic voice that fits the style well. The diverse sound could share a stage with Gorilla Biscuits, Anthrax, or Strife and Snapcase. Upon revisiting this album, it is clear that the songwriting and especially guitar playing are far ahead of their time. Where it changes lives is in its place of history. It cannot be overstated how much this album influenced music, especially the way people listen to and create Christian music. The album only lacks the two songs that came after it, which are featured on the complete collection. It would have been a nice bonus to include them here. If you buy this album, seek them out elsewhere such as in digital distribution. If only this band would have caught on more, we could have heard albums to come after it. Listening to this will make you feel something. I was transported back to Club Post Nuclear in Laguna Beach, stage diving and running in circles while the band played on. People decided to change the way they understood the world and live their day to day lives because of bands and albums like this. Again, it cannot be overstated just how important of an album this is. It must be noted that the remixing here is to be especially commended, as the old mix hid much of Mark's voice and had a very flat feel. The remix remedies any problems and makes this more than listenable. We should be grateful to tooth and nail records for giving The Crucified's music its proper due. If you are a fan of thrash metal, get this album. It will not let you down.

I had this on cassette and only heaven knows where that's gone now nearly 20 years after the original release of this album, which I thought one of the best efforts of any band for the era. Honestly, after reading Mark's account of his time in the Crucified in his book, Simplicity, I never thought this (or any Crucified albums) would be re-released. I'm really glad they chose to re-release this album. I have to admit, I think it's the same re-release (i.e., quality, etc.) as included with the album, The Collection, (which has a bunch of KGB material and Crucified demo material) but the updated artwork makes it (for me) definitely a worth-while purchase. Love these guys!

HARDCORE CHRISTIAN METAL,
This review is from: The Pillars of Humanity (Audio CD)
This is a classic HARDCORE band. Just happens that they are a Christian band. But you would never know that from just listening to the power of this music.
