A note - Dream Lites are $29 at Wal Mart so don't pay the inflated prices online.
After seeing the Dream Lites commercial constantly on Sprout (24 hour PBS cable station), my daughter was thrilled to receive one for her 6th birthday. Her 4-year-old sister "shares" it so much, we're going to buy her her own. It's soft, well made, and brings huge smiles to their faces. When I initially checked the price on the Dream Lites website, I balked at the $40 price tag (it's the size of a mini pillow pet). Paying $29 at Wal Mart was much nicer.
UPDATE: 8/15/2012 - About a week after getting the Dream Lite, its tail came off. Not a big deal, but it upset my older daughter. Also, the plastic enclosing the light fades to white with heavy use. Walgreens now sells these in store. I saw penguin, dog, unicorn, and butterfly.

I bought this at the request of my granddaughter. Was not sure if she would like it after a few days or it would be cuddly because of it's plastic battery case and where the bulbs are. She loves it and turns it on every night. It lights up the ceiling to display a smiley face and different size stars. It is very nice to lay in bed to look at it and count the stars and see the different colors that is can show. The light turns off after 20 minutes. This was money very well spent. My other granddaughter has requested a zebra which is not available yet. As soon as it is i will be purchasing that.

I bought these for my 3-year-old twins and 2-year-old daughter. They used to be great sleepers, but this summer it's been a challenge getting them to go to bed at night and to take a nap. Even though these were a little pricey, I thought it was worth a try. I told the kids that these were special toys they could have only at nap time and bedtime to help them sleep. They'd seen the commercials and were very excited. Somehow, these Dream Lites have worked like magic. My children have actually been excited to go to bed and haven't been as resistant at naptime, either. We've only had them for 4 days, but so far, so good. I love that these are so soft and cuddly, and that it's easy for young children to know how to turn the stars on and off. The stars are so cute, my children love them. I definitely recommend Dream Lites to anyone whose children are resisting going to bed.

Expensive, but can be worth it

Just what my kid wanted
