5.0 out of 5 stars The best coffee by far!
I've tried many types of coffee and always come back to Pilon. I've been drinking it by far and it has a wonderful flavor without that bitter bite some coffees have. WONDERFUL!

3.0 out of 5 stars Smooth burnt & simple
Pros: this is not bitter has a nice aroma and makes strong coffee.
Cons: this is a little on the burnt side and not as good as Bustelo.

I normally drink Cafe Bustelo Cafe Bustelo Coffee Espresso, 10-Ounce Bricks (Pack of 4) but I decided to try this. I think Bustelo is much better. Pilon is still better compared to other coffee at this price.

Wonderful coffee, not at all bitter, works magnificently with my AeroPress creating smooth coffee with a lovely foam. Highly recommend this little treasure. Great price, too.

I've been drinking this coffee ever since my best friend's mom introduced it to me in HS. This is by far the best tasting store bought coffee, Maxwell House and Folgers can't compare. I like strong coffee and its still strong even after I add cream and sugar. Its also great iced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roasted in USA vs Imported from Italy Saves BIG BUCKS., March 12, 2011

I was ordering cans of the fancy Italian import, but decided to buy from an American roaster and also save some cash. For less than one can of the import, I can get four bricks that are comparable in quality. The roaster (Rowlands -javacabana dot com) has a wide variety of blends for everything from true espresso machines to stove top pots. One note: I believe some of the other blends may use some cheaper "robusta" beans, and therefore may have a bit more caffeine kick. But this one is 100% arabica.

Espresso snobs will turn up their noses at pre-ground, but don't let them fool you. You will need to get a $[...] burr grinder to grind you own beans fine enough to match Pilon. Blade grinders and cheap $[...] Chinese burr grinders with boutique names sold in big box stores simply won't cut it. Even my $[...] grinder is not good enough. Enjoy!

My favorite is Estrella espresso, but my former e-merchant chose the low road. So be it. Pilón (and Bustelo) is a strong favorite, and I've used it for at least 10-12 years ... still do. It gives me great crema, has strong but not bitter taste, and I prefer strong espresso over the fruitier styles made by other companies. Can't go wrong with Pilón.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coffee anyone!, January 8, 2012

PILON coffee as my first purchase on AMAZON. The experience was both easy & pleasant. The coffee is 1st rate. Strong, smoothe, not heavy and no after-taste. Enjoyed various ways: On ice, frappe, with flavored cream or black, though I choose the latter. All real"coffee drinkers" look for is a consistantly good cup-of-joe. PILON nailed it. Delivery was fast and I was sent emails on its shipping progress. I was very pleased with my purchase & product. I will purchase again. Thanks AMAZON .

A wonderfully tasting coffee but I offered a package to a friend and she said, "I don't like espresso coffee". Well, it seems to me that the actual use of the word is used to describe the grind of the coffee which is as fine as dust. I don't use this coffee in an espresso machine but just put it in my Mr Coffee with the paper filter. Works great and with the fine grind, one gets much more "mileage" out of a given amount of coffee. The finer grind makes much more surface area of the coffee available as opposed to a regular grind with big chunks of bean which needs much more product to produce a similiar cup of coffee.
I found this coffee in a Florida Publix and enjoyed it very much. Upon returning home, the only source for it was on Amazon and even with shipping, its a great bargain. Enjoy.

I know PILON coffee since my early childhood in Cuba. It's a good espresso type coffee with one of the best price tags in the market.

Personally, I prefer the whole-bean version. Good quality, Cuban-style espresso, less expensive than Bustelo, but just as good.

My husband originally purchased this coffee in Florida. He grew up drinking Cuban coffee, and likes very strong regular coffee. He brews it in our French press using standard coffee measurements. Buying it from Amazon is a great value if you're used to drinking other gourmet coffees. It's vaccuum sealed, so it makes sense to buy enough to qualify for free shipping!
