I just used this hitch rack to bring my son up to University. It worked well, however, my own dumb fault, I didn't realize that my exhaust piped right into the rack. The result was that it melted a huge plastic bin that I had on the rack as well as all the plastic things inside (coffee maker, dishes, cups, other). So, it's a great way to carry extra stuff, but be careful how your exhaust pipe points!!!!

Great Price!! This is Perfect for long road trips in mini vans and SUV's!
We are planning one (road trip) in November, 2010 and needed the additional space inside our 2001 Durango. I already have a Safari Roof Rack but that's for smaller suitcases and duffel bags.
This is just what we need for carrying 4 large suitcases, standing up right (front to back) and using bungee cords and tie straps to tie them in place which frees up all sorts of room now inside the vehicle! And with a 500 pound rated max load weight, we will have no 'airline weight limit' problems what-so-ever!

Disclosure: I purchased this product a Pep Boys but feel Amazon reviews are a great tool for deciding wether or not one purchases a product. Thus, I am creating a review.

This Receiver rack is made by the same company, but is branded several different names while retaining the same part number. I happened to buy the "Navigator" branded receiver rack. Install was straight forward, directions clear, and took about 30m to assemble. The rack itself was very stable/sturdy, however when the rack was in the receiver it had a lot oif play. If you put weight on one side, the opposite side would raise about 2.5 - 3in and vice versa. Sure, there are ways to make it not wobble as much, but the rack should not move that much to begin with. Plus one should not have to do any extra work to make a product do the job it should be doing in the first place.

I mean, there is no margin of error and if there is, it should be less than 3"... half an inch to 1 inch would be *acceptable*. This is not.

For this reason I am returning the receiver rack and looking for one with a lower tolerance.
