This was such a pleasure to read and I'm an adult.
I'm a little biased too, as I used to fly small engine airplanes and the story was very believable.
I ended up picturing myself in the same situation and wondering what my responses would be.
This writer captivated the thought process of a pilot very well and also illustrated the responses in such a vivid way that you just wanted to reach out and help.
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who needs a little pick me up as they face struggles and also to anyone who has flown small engine airplanes as it is both a delight to read and it holds the attention.
Like any fictional story, the ending is just that, the ending.
You can build your ending any way you want (use your imagination) and this one, to me, was just right.
Enjoy this book specially as a read-aloud and attention-grabbing little book. Thoroughly recommended.

It is a good simple read. It the first book I read that has ever kept my focus when I was younger. You always wonder what happens on the next day, but the end of the book is a bit rushed.

First of all I couldn't lay the book down as it was an indeed good book until the ending. What mean-spirited person who finds an abandon dog on a deserted island a dog that not only befriends you, but saves your life leaves the dog on the island alone as you escape? And then as the dog swims after you, both get to dry land and you leave the dog to fend for itself as you drive away and the poor dog is chasing after you. This author is pathetic. I wish I never read this.

I enjoyed 94% of this modern day, Robinson Crusoe-esque book. The daily activities of plane crash survivor, Steve Ferris, kept my interest. I felt that the last 6% of the book seemed hurried and lacked real resolution regarding the fate of the two main characters. I disagreed with a decision that the protagonist made at the end of the book.
