3.0 out of 5 stars Pilot VBall Pens
This variety of pen is one I've used for many years, but has become increasingly hard to find at local retail outlets. I was pleased to order it online, and specifically requested the Extra Fine variety. While the bill of sale said that was enclosed in the package, it was actually the larger version. Knowing the cost and headache of arranging a return, I didn't bother...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pen, August 22, 2005

This review is from: Pilot VBall Liquid Ink Stick Roller Ball Pen, Extra Fine Point, Black Barrel/Ink, 12-Count (35200) (Office Product)
This is the only pen I will use. I have been using this pen for nearly ten years. I find the design to be much better than other fine point pens, as it is simple and effective. The ink flow is exceptionally smooth; it does not blob or skip in mid-stroke. Unlike most pens in its class, it does not have the unwieldy rubber grip, which for me does nothing except make the pen barrel too large and uncomfortable. Additionally, it is made from a single piece of plastic that is clear, allowing the user to see his or her ink level. Unfortunately, the folks at Pilot seem to disagree with me, as they appear to no longer make this pen as it was. They have moved on to a larger barreled, silver painted version with the aforementioned rubber grip. The paint chips off easily and gets all over everything.

Contrary to some reports, I've never had this pen leak during my decade of using it, even during a number of plane trips. Perhaps I was just lucky.

Overall, I would recommend this pen for its simplicity, utility, durability, and excellent writing characteristics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Writer and Consultants' "Tiny-writing" Pen, April 12, 2009

As a writer, you rarely think you're going to rave about a particular product and then write a review about the dumb thing. But that's just what I am doing for the Pilot V-Ball, Extra Fine, UPC # 35200, Black pen. I have used one for over ten years and usually I can't find them in the stores and thus have to order them. It's OK and here's why. I am a consultant and keep a number of "billable hours" logs: Telephone incoming and outgoing time, client activities, and just "jot-`em-down" entries. What got on my nerves with other pens, was the resulting "glob" of ink if you held your pen too long in one spot; the uneven distribution of ink; the long drying time so that you wind up with an ink stain on your hand. I also write with my hand on the page and a glide stroke across it. Old habits die hard. You can hold this pen in one place as you ponder, it's OK. The ink is as even on the beginning of the sentence as it is on the punctuation at the end. And the drying time is so fast a second after you write, the ink is dry. The most important aspect of this remarkable pen is the ability to lay the ink down in such a thin, tiny line that I get more compulsive-obsessive notes in the nooks and crannies of my logbooks. So there. An ode to a pen. If you like just a wonderful pen - this is it. Oh yes, for all you folks who still write longhand for the feel of it, and then the computer - this is still it. Escriba Ahora.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best pen on the market, April 2, 2005
By

It writes smoothly, with no grittyness that are present in many other pens. The colour is bold and the writing point just about glides over the paper when writing/drawing. I would recommend this pen to anyone, as everyone who uses one of my vball pilot pens love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Pens Ever, December 21, 2004
This review is from: Pilot VBall Liquid Ink Stick Roller Ball Pen, Extra Fine Point, Black Barrel/Ink, 12-Count (35200) (Office Product)
Once you use these pens, you'll never use anything else. They are a pleasure to write with because the ink flows effortlessly onto the page and requires only the lightest grip.

They do have one quirk: when you take them on an airplane, the changes in air-pressure eventually cause the pens to leak. Nevertheless, I like these pens so much for their smooth writing quality that I am willing to deal with this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best pen ever Pilot V Ball Extra Fine, December 1, 2007
This is the best pen you will ever own. If you don't have one, you owe it to yourself to get one. Beautiful, skip- and smudge-free writing on almost any surface. Your handwriting will look like calligraphy with no effort on your part. It is worth the extra cost to get one of these. I search all over the house for mine when I can't find it, even if there are 20 other pens within arm's reach! Do yourself a favor and pick up one of these pens today! You will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars My All Time #1 Choice !, May 8, 2011

This review is from: Pilot VBall Liquid Ink Stick Roller Ball Pen, Extra Fine Point, Black Barrel/Ink, 12-Count (35200) (Office Product)
I have been using this pen for close to 20 years now and have tried many others in that period. I have never encountered another pen with the same rolling smoothness and balance in my hand. I used to buy them at Staples all the time, but now have to order it there. I just came across this on Amazon, and while I wish they hadn't changed the barrel marking to this conspicuous large font, I'm presuming it is the same pen I've loved all these years.

Writing quality: Very smooth and consistent. Tends to bleed through thinner papers but, that's because the ink is so consistent. It's listed as a rollerball, but it doesn't have the dead spots in a line one expects of a rollerball such as bic. I also notice that needlepoints tends to get stuck on paper. I hate needlepoints. This pen rolls across different types of papers smoothly, and will also not pool in one spot very easily.

Comfort: I think it's the perfect size and shape. It's shorter than the traditional or Bic brand size, which gives me a great balance when writing. I also like the stiffness of the barrel, and the clear plastic around where your fingers grip are just the right size. The material gives good tacky grip.

I will never be able to write again if they stop selling this pen!

My wife and I have both been using these pens for a couple of years. They are the best ball-points we have ever used. Couldn't live without them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pilot VBall Roller Pen, December 7, 2011

I've been using these Pilot VBall ink roller pens for 15 years, and like them the best of the many roller pens I've tried. They are smooth with a quick drying permanent ink. And the Extra Fine tip makes a nice dark line for a fine point pen. These pens are inexpensive but high quality. This style pen is not sold individually any more in stores, so I appreciate their availability online from Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love them, October 12, 2011
This review is from: Pilot VBall Liquid Ink Stick Roller Ball Pen, Extra Fine Point, Black Barrel/Ink, 12-Count (35200) (Office Product)
I've been using this model for a while now and it is my favorite. The writing is always smooth and it has a conical tip so it won't get bent like the precise model sometimes will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing pens!, December 18, 2009
This review is from: Pilot VBall Liquid Ink Stick Roller Ball Pen, Extra Fine Point, Black Barrel/Ink, 12-Count (35200) (Office Product)
Easily the best pens I've ever used. I was sad when they stopped selling them, but thankfully amazon still has them in stock.

The only time I've ever had one leak was when my wife left one next to a burner on our stove and the ink inside heated up. I don't think those are normal writing conditions.
