The Invention of Dr. Grip Writing Instruments
Based on a common need for a more comfortable writing instrument, Pilot set out to give people the writing solution they were looking for. In 1995, Pilot launched Dr. Grip, a pen and mechanical pencil collection designed to provide superior writing comfort and be the solution to that demand. By 1996, the entire Dr. Grip line earned the Ease-of-Use Commendation by the Arthritis Foundation. More recently in 2012, a three-month study conducted by the Georgia Tech Research Institute found Dr. Grip Center of Gravity (COG) surpassed key competitors in overall comfort ratings for users both with and without arthritis. In the study, Dr. Grip COG was proven to be almost 2X more comfortable than key competitor brands*.

Lately, Target stopped carrying these $10 pencils (which in all honesty, the price tag is justified). So I turned to Amazon for it.
As soon as I got it, I knew something was terribly different. I have a 4 year old Dr. Grip pencil, identical in looks, which I compared to what I just received. The "new" pencil feels very cheap, and the metal rod is no longer included. It says made in Japan, but in all honesty it feels like a cheap Chinese product. The newer pencil is about 1/5 the weight of the older pencil I have.
I am disappointed in Pilot, the maker. However, I asked Amazon for a refund and they took care of me right away. Save your money if you are after the traditional pencil- this isn't it.
I found these on amazon hoping it would be the exact same one as the old one, with the shaker feature.
Well, couple days later I received the pencil and was disappointed that it didn't have the shaker feature. Hence the loss of a star.
I did go looking for the one with the shaker feature and did find it as well on amazon, it is charcoal grey and it is a ltd model. So if your looking for a dr grip withe shaker, look elsewhere and find the dr grip ltd.
Besides the lack of the shaker feature(which is a great novelty) on this dr. grip, the pencil handles well and the shaker feature isn't missed as much. Defiantly highly recommended. But like I said, if your looking for the shaker dr grip, this isn't the right one.
