One of my sisters-in-law recommended Dr. Grip to me about ten years ago when I told her about my carpal tunnel syndrome. This pen is neither too fat nor too skinny, which makes it great for writing book chapters in longhand. I own both the ball-point and the gel pen versions, and they work great.

What I like best about the gel pen is the quality of the ink. It doesn't skip while I'm writing, which has been a huge frustration with other gel pens. I also like the fact that I can find refills for these pens easily, both online and off, and at a reasonable price.

This pen is both easy and comfortable to hold. I have some arthritis in my hands, so I am very picky about that. It is also easy to write with. The gel is smooth with no skipping, and I can push down hard enough to write on carbon forms if needed.

I was expecting the Dr. Grip line to have a consistently soft grip. This was not as soft as the Center of Gravity line under the same Pilot Dr. Grip brand. The Center of Gravity's grip is a lot softer and it conforms to your fingers. This was just regular rubber.

There are not enough words to describe how and why this pen is so AWESOME! I'm a nurse and work 13 hour shifts (75% writing). My hand NEVER cramps. My fingers don't get sore. The ink shows up and photocopies well. You can differentiate your writing from other charting easily for data lookup. (The ONLY thing you cannot do, is write on labels with them, it smears). It comes in awesome colors. My co-workers are always "lifting" them from my pockets and using them to chart. I cannot lay it down and walk away or I come back and it is missing never to be returned. I have turned my co-workers into "groupies" over this pen. I dare not loan it to physicians for a "quick note" or they quickly run away with hit as well. My local store has apparently had quite a theft problem with these pens and they are under lock and key now. I have them everywhere (in my pocket, purse, attached to my calendar, journal, locker at work, my husband even began taking them from me to use at HIS place of employment. Even the pink ones. HIS co-workers are now pen junkies). Don't forget lots of refills. You will NEVER use another pen.

I purchased a few of these pens for Mothers Day gifts because I have had one for over a year and it is really very nice. It looks very nice and writes extremely smooth and bold.The ink refills are available on Amazon and at the Pilot website and the delivery is fast from both sources. This is important because a lot of stores no longer carry pen refills and once you own this pen you will want to keep it and maintain it.

This pen is both beautiful and works well. I love the thickness and weight of the Dr. Grip pencil I have, so when I was in the market for a new pen, I was happy to find this rather pretty one that uses gel ink, which I also like. After months of use, this pen still looks new, although I do treat it well because it looks so nice. As an avid user of grips both soft and hard since I was young, I can tell you that I have no problems with the grip on this pen. It is not cushiony but neither is it uncomfortably hard to me. It is made of rubber and curves ever so slightly inwards. On the whole, I find the pen quite comfortable to use and hold, and a pleasure to look at.
