5.0 out of 5 stars Legit Music
This was the best CD I've listened to in a long time. The guitar and rap mix is soulful and inspiring. I wish I could say such good things about most of today's rap. This is a must buy CD. I love it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Aint Got No Rims....Don't Get No Woodgrain Steering Wheel, August 16, 2010

Curren$y Tha Hot Spitta finally releases his long overdue debut album Pilot Talk. Curren$y is somewhat of an enigma in the rap game. People may remember him as part of the original Young Money crew with Lil Wayne or may be more familiar with his classic single Where The Ca$h At ft. Remy Ma & Lil Wayne back in 2004. He also was featured on Lil Wayne's critically acclaimed Tha Carter 2 on the single Grown Man.

After a few non-malicious label disputes, a myriad of well received mixtapes and street albums, and a grassroots movement (JETS Son), Curren$y has finally dropped his official major label debut for the masses. I admit I was not that high on Curren$y until around this time last year (2009). I heard the song Car Service with Wiz Khalifa (also who I became a fan of at that time) and the rest was history.

Curren$y definitely has the skills to hang with some of the best rappers of today. Being somewhat of a late bloomer as far mainstream success and being somewhat unorthodox in his approach, Curren$y definitely doesn't disappoint. The album keeps a consistent tone and attitude throughout as we are exposed to his blunted reality. The production perfectly fits his style and, while not eyebrow amazing, is hypnotic and addictive. The guests are along for the ride and don't disappoint at all. The features include Jay Electronica (where's his album already??), Big K.R.I.T. (newest Def Jam signee...look for big things from him), Mos Def, Devin The Dude, Nesby Phips, Smoke DZA, Trademark Da Skydiver and Snoop Dogg.

The superior songs seem to be Audio Dope II, Life Under The Scope, The Day and Prioritize (Shout out to Big Boi!) but every song is at least 4 stars. Curren$y has managed to release an album that's worthy of repeated plays and should not be slept on in the least. Easily one of the better albums of the year and I advise you to pick this one up quickly. 4.5 Stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait!, July 13, 2010
This review is from: Pilot Talk (Audio CD)
Ive been a curren$y fan since before Young Money. After listening to all of his mixtapes on repeat for days at a time, i was wondering what was taking him so long to actually drop an LP. When i heard Pilot Talk was coming out i was excited but nervous at the same time seeing as this was his first album. After listening to this whole CD 3 times on its drop date alone... I can comfortably say... Curren$y is a beast on an underground level as well as mainstream. A+

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a decent rap album, April 7, 2011

This is a solid rap cd and I've been happy with the purchase. No silly skits mar it. The best cut is "Roasted" -- that is the cut when people at your party say "yo these beats are legit who is this??". I think someone with even a passing interest in rap music would enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Curren$y, Jet Movement.... an artist who's flown under the radar, July 26, 2010
Interesting enough, Curren$y is an rap artist I've heard about last year through my sister. What makes him so good is like Talib Kweli, Jay Electronica, or even Hi-Tek; they're known in the hip hop world, but none of the fame recognition. What makes Curren$y platinum on this album is the ability to rap on different sounds. The theme could be completely off of normal hip hop beats, and he still raps fluently, and it sounds great. It's nothing short of amazing, and should get platinum and at least a nomination for Best Rap Album of the Year at the Grammys. If you believe otherwise, it's obvious you didn't listen to the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new classic, July 24, 2010

I first noticed Currency on the 504 boyz album from way back. He was the only legitimate new talent on that whole album and the only one still around. Payed a little attention over the years but this new album has taken me by surprise. So chill to listen to, so convoluted, this one's got legs. The production is like from outer space too.

This is the best of the year so far in Hip-Hop. You can listen to this from beginning to end with no stops. I have so many favorite songs on here it's ridiculous. Ive already put like 10 people on to the album but they can't find it anywhere in Houston so I'm assuming it's sold out. Good album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flight Instructions, July 15, 2010
This review is from: Pilot Talk (Audio CD)
This album has all the polish that was missing from Curren$y's previous offerings. The lyrical content has always been there. Veteran producer Ski Beatz gives a consistency that's been needed in Spitta's overall musical production. The captain of the JETS also calls in a lot of favors as far as guest features go with a notable absence being, frequent partner in rhyme, Wiz Khalifa. Jay Electronica gives what is easily on of this year's best verses on "The Day." If you're a fan, you already know "Tha Planes Got It." If you're a new listener and have been looking for substance in hip hop, support great artists! Planes ova everythang!
