Possibly the coolest game ever made,

Keep in mind, I said coolest, not best. And although it gets 3 stars, be sure, that is a very high 3.Pilotwings is a simple sort of flight simulator for the SNES. It has surprisingly good flight physics, for its age, mediocre graphics, and some wonderfully laughable music (read bad). The music is great because it tries to have different parts, and a melody and bassline, using terrible quality 'beep' music. You fly the lightplane, rocketbelt, and hanglider, as well as sky dive, through rings, arches, and bars, and then attempt to land accurately. Fairly simple game play, but infuriatingly difficult at times, especially in expert mode, which you get after the first four levels and the top secret helicopter rescue mission (which is awesome). Learning to land in sky diving is crazy hard, but I got it down eventually. On the other hand, rocketbelt is easy enough to get 100 points and the bonus level, so it balances out. There are two secret bonus levels, which are weird. They deserve little further comment. Pilotwings was pretty fun, in the end, and is cool as an old SNES game. If there were more helicopter levels, encompassing some sort of actual story, it would have been incredible. Sadly, it has little actual substance, but a lot of replay value, because you can jump right in, and the whole point of the game is practicing. Pilotwings isn't really worth buying, unless you're feeling like more after the N64 version, and are willing to sacrifice graphics. Or if you are crazy and bored. If you already own it, but have never gotten into or played it (which is understandable), at least go play the helicopter level (password: 108048...probably). It is fun.

Pilotwings was one of the first releases for the Super NES, so you can't expect much from the 3-Dish graphics.
But this game is so much fun!!!! It takes alot of skill to land vehicles, and I think the hardest level(s) is the skydiving one. Occaisionally you'll mess up, and it's entertaining!!! If you do not open your parachute on cue in the skydiving levels, you crash through the ground. Or if you don't set the guy with the jetpack down slowly an explosion occurs. Land on the white bumps and you go "boing" I agree, the music is so funny to listen to, especially on the jetpack level, where you here the "famous" horrible singer. It took me forever to make it to the first helicopter level, because on the 4th series of levels.... well it's almost impossible to beat. Landing the airplane is also hard, mess one thing up you end up crashing. I'm going to keep this game because it's sooooooooooooooooo funny!!

I played this game years ago when the SUPER NINTENDO was the it thing. I always loved playing this game and recently discovered my wife had an old SUPER NES stored away. Well, it didnt take me long to hop online and purchase Pilotwings. It a great game even if its a little short. I would highly recommend this game if you like flying/aviation or skill challenges.

This old game has good graphics, but the game is very frustrating. You need to fly through all the rings, extend the landing gear exactly on time, slow down on time, and try to make it on the runway. I always crash when I land on the runway very slowly and gently. Not to mention, you have to make a very high score which makes it very hard and it gives you a very little amount of points.
I don't suggest you to get this game.

Pilotwings was among the first revolutionary games that started the same 3D gameplay that is virtually in almost game for Playstation or X-Box, if not the first one. This fact alone places Pilotwings in the annals of the best games ever made. It's also important for me to mention the amazing sound effects of the game. You can actually hear the air hitting once you're dropped with the parachute or when you're flying on the hang glider.
It starts with very easy stages until it gradually gets even harder and harder, which makes the game an excellent challenge. With a little bit of practice and a fair number of tries, you'll be finding yourself finishing the game in no time. The game mechanics are still relatively simple. When it comes to graphics, the chopper stage can be the game's one true drawback. Still, make no mistake about it, Pilotwings can compete against any of today's games in terms of graphics, more than a decade and a half later. The 7th training stage has some of the best graphics and colors I've ever seen in a video game. It really makes you want to keep flying away in the airplane. Pilotwings's an incredible gaming experience.

Pilotwings is still the best flight simulator you can find. The challenges are very engaging, you'll fly numerous aircraft through these obstacles, you'll get pilot licenses as you go through different instructors, and you'll have a ton of fun while doing it. This game never really gets old to play, and this is one of those kids games that I have not grown out of.
