Smash Season 1
Synopsis: There's nothing more exciting than the opening night of a hit Broadway musical, except maybe what happens getting there. When a tenacious producer (Anjelica Houston) jumps aboard, so begins the difficult task of casting the silver screen icon. Ivy Lynn, a tough Broadway veteran, seems like the obvious choice. But enter Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee), a young girl from Iowa with a dream of making it on Broadway who walks in and blows everyone away. So who will get the part and begin a journey that will change their lives? It's an age-old story, but a star just might be born once again. This will be a rollercoaster ride that culminates on opening night when the audience gets to determine whether or not the show is a smash!

If you're here, you probably know that Smash is one of the best shows to appear on television in the last 20 years. Thank you, Theresa Rebeck, for creating it!

Great music, great characters (Derek is my favorite), everybody who loves New York and especially Broadway will have a BLAST watching every single episode. What could you expect, it also has Steven Spielberg as one of its executive producers!

I'm sure that thousands and thousands of americans and foreigners who love NYC will feel the same way. Am I right?

My god... and the original music of this show !?

I don't have words to describe how incredible and perfect they are, really, REALLY creative, songs AND lyrics, you have to watch Smash and listen to them yourself, if you still didn't do that!
(Don't waste any time, btw, you're gonna fall in love with the original music!)

The original songs were written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, these guys deserve no less than a standing ovation! (They are also executive producers). Where do I sign up to work with them?

My favorite ones are: "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" (episode 3), "On Lexington & 52nd Street" (episode 7), "A Thousand and One Nights" (an AWESOME indian song on episode 12) and "Second Hand White Baby Grand" (also episode 12). Some of them you can have here The Music Of Smash [+digital booklet]

I, myself, a brazilian born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, have Times Square/Broadway as my favorite place in the city, so you can imagine what it was for me the release of this show.

But seriously, on this day and age, no announcement of a Blu-ray release with perfect image/sound and tons of extras? Come on! I'm desperate for a Blu-ray of Smash to watch on my projector! LOL

While we wait, here are the names of each episode (and the US air dates) of Smash, season 1:

1) Pilot - 2/6/12

2) The Callback - 2/13/12

3) Enter Mr. DiMaggio - 2/20/12

4) The Cost of Art - 2/27/12

5) Let's Be Bad - 3/5/12

6) Chemistry - 3/12/12

7) The Workshop - 3/19/12

8) The Coup - 3/26/12

9) Hell on Earth - 4/2/12

10) Understudy - 4/9/12

11) The Movie Star - 4/16/12

12) Publicity - 4/23/12

13) Tech - 4/30/12

14) Previews - 5/7/12

15) Bombshell - 5/14/12

I'm sure you also probably know that Smash was renewed for season 2. Thank god ! The new season starts only next year, 1/7/13. We're gonna die waiting. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally Glee with a Script and Great Acting March 19, 2012
Best show I have seen in years. I did not expect to like it and by about 15 minutes into the first episode I was hooked. The songs are incredible, the storyline very engaging and a tremendous cast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are You Fascinated by Musicals/Theater? March 19, 2012
If you love the world of musical theater, you may enjoy this smashing romp aptly titled SMASH. With a stellar cast including Deborah Messing, Katherine McPhee and Anjelica Huston with Spielberg producing it, there's talent invested in it.

The talent is trying to produce a Broadway Musical based on the iconic Marilyn Monroe. However, there are the usual challenges: inconvenient romances, slimy director, cast rivalry, insufficient financial backing, script rewriting etc. It is great fun to observe the creative process and the chaos surrounding it. Will they produce a smash hit? You want to keep watching to see if it will come together.
