Each member brings his own unique talent and perspective. They originally met at a club event in Tokyo in 2001. What can I say? Gilles Peterson turned me onto these guys, and if you think mainstream jazz these days is a big pile of stinking doo-doo, this is a nice surprise. Sounds like the love child of Archie Shepp and a Bulgarian gypsy band. Some very, very fast songs, and some slower, emotionally rich, hard-bop horns sounding things. Like the best of Bobbie Hutcherson, dressed in Tokyo street. Worth every penny.
