Love, Adeventure, and Time Travel!,

This review is from: Pimpernel Plot (Paperback)
If you've ever read or seen The Scarlet Pipernel, you know this story. Percy Blakeney pretends to be a fop, but really he is the famous Scarlet Perpernel, who rescues French Aristocrats from the horrors of the Revolution. In Simon Hawke's version Finn Delaney has to take the Scarlett Pipernel's place. Copmlications arrise when he falls in love with Lady Blakeney and she with him. She starts asking if Percy ever had a cousin who looked just like him. Not only does Finn have to keep the fact that he is the Pipernel a secret, but she is even beginning to suspect the truth that the is not her husband! Simon Hawke does a wonderful job of taking classic stories and making them fresh. I reccomend the whole series, but this is my second favorite, after Zenda Vendetta.

One of the best volumes in the Time Wars series!,

This review is from: The Pimpernel Plot (Time Wars) (Paperback)
"Scarlet Pimpernel?" Sounded like a pretty sissified . . . um . . . whatever it was--before I read this title from Hawke. Just like every other book in the rest of the Time Wars series, this volume either introduced me to a number of historical or legendary figures from history, or let me see them from a new and exciting perspective. Check it out!

This book was a big disappointment to me because I really love the Scarlet Pimpernel. I also think that time travel is really cool, so I decided to give this book a try. There was very little about Percy or the Scarlet Pimpernel in it. The story focused on the intrigue within the time operatives. It also had alot of sci-fi talk about the workings of time travel. If you like that in a story than by all means this would be the book for you; but if you're interested in the history I wouldn't recommend it. I also found a good deal of swearing, which was not needed, in the book.
