Book Description

August 6, 2002
An explosive, intimate and honest photographic and narrative examination of the fascinating underworld of pimps and their women. Pimp culture has long held a fascination for the mass public. With the stunning, shocking and beautiful photographs by one of America's leading photographers, Tracy Funches, and the compelling, brutal narrative of Rob Marriott, a leading hip-hop journalist, PIMPNOSIS examines the pimp culture in a new light. Instead of glamourising pimping, PIMPNOSIS looks at the intricate bond between a pimp and his prostitutes and why this culture captivates the public.

4.0 out of 5 stars i hate to say it but..., August 16, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Pimpnosis (Hardcover)
I loved this book. Don't get me wrong. Pimps are not heroes and they aren't victims of society either but this picture book is gorgeous. The photography is awesome. You may not want to keep this book on your coffee table or you will have some explaining to do when company comes over but it is fascinating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, October 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Pimpnosis (Hardcover)
The photography alone makes this book worth buying. It's a wonderful coffee-table book. But, I also found it to be surprisingly educational. The use of photography combined with compelling text, allows for an intimate look into a sub-culture not easily understood and one that is quickly disappearing. It is both timeless and thought-provoking.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read, March 16, 2005
This review is from: Pimpnosis (Hardcover)
I must say that this book had me fooled. I almost thought it was the story of a real pimp. The pictures are better than the story however and one should be very careful about trying to "gain game" from this book. Great for living room display.
