This review is from: Pimsleur Quick & Simple Japanese (Audio CD)
The main reason for buying the Q&S version is that a) you're not sure you like the Pimsleur method or b) you can't afford the full version. BUT you can try lesson 1 online for free so there's no need to buy it just to try it. And as for not being able to afford it. If you're really committed to learn Japanese you will -find- a way to buy at least the Instant Conversation set.I'm not giving this version just 1 star because I don't like it, the first 8 lessons of Pimsleur are great... only thing is that they are the FIRST 8 lessons. Not the only ones. You will get so much more if you buy more lessons so you should save your money and buy Instant Conversation or Level 1.

Yeah, sure, this is a "Quick and Simple" course.
And as the previous review says its a "try before you buy" situation. I got this Q&S as an audiobook download and was quite impressed with it. The approach that Pimsleur uses is quite unique and definitely the most effective I've ever come across. As someone who has spent my hard earned $$ on various language learning aids and been sadly disappointed for one reason or another, I was quite elated to discover the Pimsleur Approach series. They do exactly what they claim. Its done on a build and review method of introducing vocabulary through various conversational scenarios and then reviewing the vocabulary in such a way that it really helps to reinfoce what has been learned. And I also like it because you don't necessarily need any books to accompany the lessons. I downloaded the Q&S onto my iPod and listen to it quite often. So, in conclusion. If you really want to learn another language, leave all those other study programs on the store shelf and give Pimsleur a try. I'm certain you'll thank yourself later. |
