5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, Gripping! A real page turner!
I am thrilled that Amazon was able to locate a copy of this novel for me within their network! I saw the movie on video years ago and thought it was quite good, but the movie couldn't even begin to compare with the novel! I would recommend this book to anyone. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good, old fashioned pulp horror
Andrew Neiderman is one of the worlds highest selling authors, mainly through his work as a ghostwriter after the passing of VC Andrews in 1986. His novels can often be a hit or miss affair. Fortunately, PIN is a hit, rather than a miss. PIN tells the story of Ursula and Leon, a pair of orphaned teenagers. Ursula is a sweet young woman who does her best to accommodate her...

I am thrilled that Amazon was able to locate a copy of this novel for me within their network! I saw the movie on video years ago and thought it was quite good, but the movie couldn't even begin to compare with the novel! I would recommend this book to anyone. Every page makes you want to read on and on. I was actually dissappointed when I finished, which I have to admit, I just received the book yesterday and finished it last night. I'm sure I'll wait a couple of months and read it again.

This book was a real psychological thriller with surprises around every corner. A brother and sister like none I've ever read about before! Neiderman takes his readers into the deepest, darkest depths of the human mind where true inner madness hides behind secret passions.

Very suspensful! I highly suggest this book gets republished and put back on the shelves for the readers of today to experience Neiderman at his best!

4.0 out of 5 stars unique novel, July 15, 2005

This review is from: Pin (Paperback)
Andrew Neiderman is a unique and talented writer. After finishing "Amnesia," another totally unique and fascinating book, I read "Pin." This is the story of a schizophrenic sociopath and the sister who loves and protects him. Pin is an imaginary friend of his-- an anatomical mannequin left to him by his father, the doctor. There is black humor here. The conversations between Leon and the imaginary Pin are hilarious at times. Leon answers Pin's comment with "I was just thinking that," or some such comment. Very suspenseful story, moves swiftly along, no wasted words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swift and thrilling!, May 26, 2004

This review is from: Pin (Paperback)
Generally, the cover writeup goes: Young Leon and Ursula had little except each other and pin...Mother was driven by a psychotic need to clean. Fahter was consumed by his medical practice. But he understood the sensual hunger growing inside his children's young bodies. He knew they could help each other answer, "The Need." Father had Science and Reason, and he had Pin.

Pin who answered all the children's questions in a voice like father--a clever trick, a brilliant illusion.
But then Mother and Father died in an accident, leaving just the three: Quiet Leon, beautiful and frightened Ursula, and wise, impacable Pin. God help anyone who threatened their perfect trinity. And God help anyone who didn't believe in Pin."

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, old fashioned pulp horror, December 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pin (Paperback)
Andrew Neiderman is one of the worlds highest selling authors, mainly through his work as a ghostwriter after the passing of VC Andrews in 1986. His novels can often be a hit or miss affair. Fortunately, PIN is a hit, rather than a miss. PIN tells the story of Ursula and Leon, a pair of orphaned teenagers. Ursula is a sweet young woman who does her best to accommodate her mentally unstable older brother and his fascination with PIN, a mannequin from their father's doctors surgery. When Ursula falls in love, Leon and PIN know that they must take action, or risk seeing their family torn apart.

Overall, PIN was decently written and offered just enough suspense to keep me turning the pages. Recommended for anyone who wants to read a good old fashioned mass market horror novel that doesn't rely on sassy characters, technology or glitter.

I am glad this book was reissued. I had not read it for some years. I had forgotten how gripping it is.

Wow! The entire family is mad! Nuts! Father is cold and distant, Mother is a clean-freak, Leon is obsessed by Pin, and Ursula (love that name!) cannot stay away from her crazy brother, even though it seems like sometimes she tries to. She even tries to have a normal life and becomes engaged to Stan which ends in disaster.

Neiderman is a master at gripping suspense and horror. It is no wonder that he has been so popular for so many years. I always look forward to each and every release from him - even if it is a reissue of one of his older books. I also look forward to every one of his V. C. Andrews books.

Yes, a master for sure!

3.0 out of 5 stars interesting but..., November 2, 2010
This review is from: Pin (Paperback)
i liked the book but,i question alot of it. the gist of the story is this:
two kids(leon and ursula)are brought up by wacky parents...the siblings have some odd incestuous sexual "play" with eachother...the parents die in an accident leaving the kids alone...but,they have "pin" a medical dummy..."pin" has been "talking" to the kids for years(i think brother and sister are both wacko!)...the kids live alone with only "pin" for company...later the sister gets a boyfriend...the boyfriend is killed by the brother.....i did not quite understand the very end. i think the brother, leon, ended up in the chair that "pin" always
sat in--leon turned into-"pin"!!!!!!
andrew neiderman is extremely gifted. i have read some of his other books. this
one is so-so. i would say a definite read for horror fans or people curious about reading something "different".

5.0 out of 5 stars Andrew Neiderman Can Make You Smell Sweat on a Body!, February 20, 2010

Windows hung on walls of night, officious undulations, and seeds of suspicions. This book is dark and twisted, insane and horrorible. It is powerful, profane, and memoriable, like Shirley Jackson's "We've Always Lived in a Castle" and Herbert Lieberman's "Crawl Space." Did I like reading it? Not particularly. I almost didn't make it through it. Nothing much happens for about 84 pages (just important mood-setting background information, now I think back on it!). I dropped "Pin" in favorable of newly-arrived Victor Koman's "Solomon's Knife" which I dearly loved (read my review). And as an after-thought, and because I was already on page 100 and hooked on writing these reviews (they're habit forming!), I resumed "Pin." And I'm glad I did! Static ceases, change limps in, new relationships develop, old ones struggle to remain, as young fragile minds fall through ice and get burned in stone fireplaces on long winter's nights.

Pin is the best book ever. I love Pin. Pin is such a character. I wish Pin was real so I could enjoy his company at all hours of the day & night. I would like to see Pin dance and maybe sing too. I bet he'd be real good. Pin can show you how a body works but also he can show you how a MIND might work.I feel sorry for anyone who has'nt experienced Pin's Majesty.
