If you want to make a pineapple quilt, this is the book to buy. I searched for months online, in bookstores, and in quilt show vendor malls for the best book or pattern to buy to make a pineapple quilt. I finally took a gamble and ordered this book online and it is exactly what I wanted.
I wanted something that would tell me how to make one of these quilts in different sizes, and what the yardage should be for the different sizes. The quilt sizes are for a "practice" wall hanging, baby/crib, twin, double, queen, and king. Each size has its own page with a diagram of the layout of the quilt, as well as a yardage chart. I also did not want to buy a special ruler. I just wanted to strip piece it. This book is perfect for that. The directions are easy to understand and have a diagram for each step of the way.
If you are, however, looking for a pretty book with lots of colorful quilts inside, this is not the book to buy. This is just a book with directions for making the simple pineapple block, none of the fancy variations. It is all black and white inside, so it is pretty much for someone who is serious about making the quilt and not just wanting to look at pictures of quilts. If you want a gallery of pineapple quilts, maybe pair this with another book with more pictures.
This is a well-written book on making Pineapple Quilts. It contains good illustrations and good step by step instructions. Shows good color and scrap combinations of the basic design. It takes the fear out of the old-fashioned way of making this classic quilt block. This book may be out of print, so I was glad to find a copy on Amazon as a gift for a friend who had been looking for a good book on the Pineapple technique-mine is well-worn.
