I know this product is marketed for derby usage but it is much more versatile than that. For instance the lock on my neighbor's front door was terrible, it would grab the key and not let go. I'd have to spend 5 minutes gently jiggling the key to get it back out after letting their dog out while they were out of town because the tumblers were binding. Then I put a little "squirt" of graphite in there and now the lock functions perfectly, couldn't be smoother. And that's the exact sort of situation where a wet lube would work for a while then it would attract gunk and you'd be worse off than before but a dry lube like this is perfect.

Just be mindful that it will temporarily blacken skin/hands and may stain other things, same as pencil graphite. In other words, don't let it get on anything you wouldn't rub a pencil tip on.

I won't pretend to be a hot shot pinewood derby racer. I'm sure it is great for those cars too but I will let the guys who are clocking their cars before and after every step give you the skinny on performance there ;)

Update: This went into my boy's first pinewood derby car and I actually did do a little bit of clocking. BEFORE using this lubricant a flick of the wheels would cause them to spin for 3-4 seconds before stopping (on polished axles). After working in a bunch of this lubricant a flick of the wheels will have them spinning for 20-40 seconds! I think they are inconsistent because my boy did the work himself and some axles/wheels got more lubricant than others, not because the lubricant is inconsistent by the way, but clearly this is an amazing reduction in friction!!

I originally purchased this for use on my car door locks due to poor lubrication and the lack of an automatic car door opener. So I am constantly in and out of my car through the main lock on the driver's side door. Entering and locking the vehicle became a hassle so I initially went down to the auto store and picked up some basic wet, areosol lubricant for the lock. It worked fine for a few days, but then it returned the lock to the state it was in prior to its application. This stuff, however, works like a charm since I initially used it. Not only does it last longer, it lubricates the lock much better. It's so smooth. Hands down, some of the best stuff to lubricate locks with.

Applied it liberally just as I was going to hand the car in at weigh-in. This plus getting the weight exactly to 5 oz made it easy for my son to take first place in his race.

Why is there no Molydbemun disulfide in this product? I am running an experiment that needed a control for Molybdeumn and Sulfur. This seemed like a good low cost way to get something I could use for this. I was surprised and upset that the product had neither substance, plus it cost me more than $300 of instrument time to determine this. It's not useful to say what I did find… but this product wasn’t what I thought I was buying.

had a sticky door lock. heard that wd-40 would exacerbate the problem in the long run, and to seek out graphite instead. found this, ordered it, used it, fixed it. BAM!

It doesn't take a lot. Didn't make my son's car win, but I think it definitely helped. Will last for a couple of years.

This health warning on the package was omitted from the product description. I believe it's very important to know about the hazards before making a purchase.

The item itself is difficult to use - the graphite spills out in bursts, and then quickly becomes airborne.

Don't know how to compare this to other graphite powders I've used, but this stuff is as good as any I've ever tried. I used it for outdoor gate lubrication and know that I will have to reapply every now and again, but it solved the sticky latch immediately. I love graphite, but I always seem to lose the tube in between applications.
