4.0 out of 5 stars Great film July 10, 2007
I love movies set in this era. I love the clothes, the cars, the music; it was just a simpler time in America's history.

Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood play off of each other so well and the one-liners are hilarious. Great plot, great comedy, and great fun.

Reynolds when Eastwood walks unannounced into the office: "I didn't hear you knock."

Eastwood: "What a relief. I thought I was going deaf."

These two constantly banter like this throughout the whole fim and it's always funny.

Give this fun flick a try.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight Fun With Clint and Burt July 2, 2005
"City Heat" (1984) is a nostalgic throwback to those Spencer Tracy-Clark Gable vehicles of the late 1930s. It's lightweight stuff, but Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds make a good team in this Prohibition-era caper. The star chemistry compensates for a weak script and troubled production history (Clint selected director Richard Benjamin after a falling out with original collaborator Blake Edwards - alias Sam O. Brown in the final credits). Though a disappointment with critics and audiences, Clint and Burt have done much worse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely underrated movie December 10, 2008
I'm not sure what people expected of this movie, but if you forget about who the actors are in this movie and just watch it for fun, it's a hoot! Sure, the plot's a little thin, but it's a comedy, who cares. Enjoy, it's fun and funny.

4.0 out of 5 stars For Eastwood Fans... October 11, 2009
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
As a Clint Eastwood fan, I could not pass on a Three Movie DVD at a one Movie price.
I like these movies, I do.
Some say that 'Pink Cadillac' is one of his poorest efforts, yet Bernadette Peters easily
makes up for that. So I really like that movie also.
Overall, a good purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spoofing the private eye and hard nosed cop movies December 6, 2009
Clint Eastwood and Bert Reynolds star in this light hearted spoof of the hard nosed private eye and cop movies.
Reynolds is the smart a$$ private eye and Eastwood is the hard as nails cop in this romp into the 1930s as they battle bootleggers,
gangsters, and each other. Eastwood often plays straight man to Reynolds wisecracking character.
There are many gags and laughs in the film, but it`s what I call a soft spoof. It`s not a wild crazy spoof like "Airplane", It`s
more along the lines of the western spoof "My Name is Nobody". Rather than go for wild crazy gags, they exaggerate the tough guy
movie just enough to make it funny. And it works well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pink Cadillac November 6, 2011
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Pink Cadillac is another great old Clint Eastwood movie. There was a lot of action through the whole thing and Bernadette Peters played a great supporting roll. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eastwood has a sense of humor........... November 24, 2011
Clint's bounty hunter is obviously a parody character based on his other roles. The movie was interesting and a little bizarre, but I think he was having fun with the production, and with the audience. While Peters is not generally leading lady material there is something appealing and vulnerable about the woman she portrays, and it plays well to Eastwood's sentimental tough guy. If you're looking for humor and action but don't expect a lot of plot depth or original story line it's an entertaining flick.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pink Cadillac never starts May 26, 2004
By MR77100
Although I like GM cars, Pink Cadillac stands as being the worst movie of Clint Eastwood's career. He plays a modern-day bounty hunter by the name of Tommy Nowak that uses skill rather then a gun to catch his suspects, although he does carry a gun briefly here. Bernadette Peters plays this little curly-haired blonde who lives in a trailer with her dead-beat husband and his speed-freak friends. Her husband owns a pink cadillac and she drives off in it with her baby and a bag of money. Nowak is then sent to bring her back from a casino before her husband's gang finds her first. When they do, and kidnap the baby, Nowak and Peters bond when they give chase to get it back.

The movie is red-neck and full of trailer trash stereotypes in every way. It also helps define the classic example of the woman that takes the bad boy, but then learns her lesson when she finds Nowak. But the movie has poor acting. Clint's chessy impressions, including an imitation of a drunken red-neck, do little to raise any laughs. The gang of army wannabe's don't make the film any more dramatic. The whole concept of "Don't mess with a man's automobile" is literally worn out.

Despite the semi-colorful cast of Peters, Frances Fisher, and even Jim Carey, and an expansive soundtrack, this romantic comedy falls short of anything close to a classic. It's a good thing that Eastwood didn't direct this himself; Buddy Van Horn took the rap instead. This is the only film of Eastwood's career that did not receive a theatrical release in the UK, and it remains his lowest-grossing to date. Sorry folks, but Pink Cadillac never starts. If you are an Eastwood fan like me, get it to fill in the gaps of your DVD collection.
