1.0 out of 5 stars PIECE OF JUNK - DO NOT BUY
This corvette is a piece of junk! Even in high speed the car does not go the 5mph and oh if you are think of getting an extra battery to have on hand - you cannot purchase them in one of your local stores. You have to call Safety 1st and order through them where I was just told by the customer service rep that the battery itself is $50 and the shipping is $13.91. What...

We purchased the pink corvette for our then 2 1/2 year old daughter last Christmas. We searched for it all over the southern part of the country for over a month before we finally decided to purchase it online and pay the almost $100 shipping. We had our heart set on this ride-on because it had so many more "extras" than the other ones we had seen, and because it seemed to fit our little princess perfectly! When we placed the order online it was guaranteed to be here before Christmas Eve. After the order we received an email stating the estimated delivery date to be AFTER Christmas! I was on the phone with Toys R Us for hours trying to track down where the car was and trying to figure out a way to possibly pick it up from wherever it was rather than our daughter not have her BIG present on Christmas morning. They never would give me a guarantee that it would be here on time but thankfully we finally received it 2 days before Christmas. That was the most stressful Christmas ever to say the least! As far as the durability of the car it has been great except for one of the pegs that holds the hood on broke 3 days after we got it. The hood stays in place fine without it though. My daughter has only driven it a hand full of times in the 8 months we've had it. We live in a 2nd story apartment and we purchased it thinking it would be easier for me to get it up and down the stairs than a bulky jeep would be...WRONG...this thing is HEAVY!! So we have to wait for my husband to get home to get it downstairs for her to be able to ride it. Education-wise it has taught my daughter to buckle her seat belt before even starting the car. She doesn't really use the blinkers yet, afterall, she hasn't even gotten the whole "watching where you're going, turning the steering wheel" thing yet! Sometimes I think she is a little bored with it as she seems to look around at other things rather than trying to stay on the sidewalk. Some of the other reviews have stated that the car jerks as it starts to go. I thought it was my daughter not pushing the petal down far enough because she wasn't able to reach it very well when she first got it. I guess it really wasn't her after all. It does seem to slow down tremendously when climbing even the smallest of hills. She only drives on the sidewalks because the car doesn't go well in the grass. However, my daughter looks like "a million bucks" in her stylish pink convertable with her matching pink sunglasses and is the envy of all the neighborhood girls! A bit much to pay just to look beautiful though.

What a piece of junk - save yourself the $300. My goodness for a mom that doesn't have a lot of $ but wanted to give her daughter one nice thing this is very disappointing!!!! Safety 1st customer service is not very helpful either!!!!

I purchased this Pink Corvette for my five-year-old Daughter because she loves Daddy's Black one so much. She can handle the car very well, even with the safty screw(which prevents the car from going five-mph unless you remove it) removed. This car has features that enhance it's performance ie: pop-up headlites that light-up, a clock/radio that works, turn signals, cup holder, etc. You have to check out all the options!! While you're at it check out the seat screws that hold the seats in place and have no room for error because they are located on the edge of the plastic trey??? I think this is a design flaw which will surely crack in time. Mine came with the Vette emblems falling off; I had to glue them on with clear silicone. The car itself came complete with stress cracks which has discolored(lighter shade of pink)lines in the sides of the body; I can't understand this for the car is packaged in styrofoam front and back. However as I stated these marks are on the sides; could have happened before it was placed in the box. My little girl wants to drive it, I want to return it, The ToysRUS stores are sold out and My wife is giving me a hard time for speding $300.00 for all this grief. I hope this helps you decide on your purchase. Sincerely Yours Wolf Edwards Austin, Texas

I was really debating whether to go with this or a Fisher Price Power Wheels model (the 4x4 Jeep or the Cruising Tunes one), but I'm glad I got this Pink Corvette instead. What it lacks in durability it more than makes up for in extra features - pop-up headlights, directional blinkers, a working radio, etc. The car makes an engine noise when you turn the key, and keeps it up for as long as the vehicle is on - if something like that would annoy you, try a Power Wheels instead.

This vehicle is somewhat hard to find. The first ToysRUs I went to gave me the run-around - they wanted me to call every two days to see if it came in. That ran pretty thin after a week, so I used the Amazon.com search engine for ToysRUs outlets in the vicinity - the first alternate site I checked had two of them. First problem solved.

Assembly is a snap. I did make a point of going to the Safety 1st site ( http://www.safety1st.com/corvette/corvette.html ; this is where ToysRUs gets the car), and downloaded the English language portion of the instruction manual that comes with the car before I decided to buy it, read it through thoroughly, and so I had a pretty good idea what to do when I got it home. I did also note (with a bit of trepidation) that one customer had a "flameout", and another had wheels that spun in opposing directions, so I decided to do some testing well before I delivered this thing. The engines are located under the seats, which are exposed to view before you put the seats on as part of assembly - what I'd suggest is propping the car up with a powered battery inside, say with the rear wheels hanging over a table or bed, turn the key and activiate the motor with the accelerator. If you have the wrong spin on a wheel, just pull the leads off on that engine and reverse them. If you have a "flameout" (I didn't - everything worked just fine), at least your kid won't get a hotseat...

This machine is sweet. The best part for me is the working FM radio & clock. It even has a cup holder { (: } ... this Corvette is just too cool in my book. Tuning is great - when I fired up the radio, it was on WICE playing "Route 66"... that won me over right then and there. The horn works great too.

Can't wait to see the expression on my little cousin's face when she sees this ...

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Experience, February 1, 2005
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pink Corvette Ride-On (Toy)
I ordered the pink corvette for my two daughters (2 and 6 yrs old) for Christmas. On Christmas the girls were excited to see the car and jumped in to take it for a spin. The car made it about 10 feet and stopped. Battery had been charged 16 hours as per the directions. The car never worked properly. I called Safety First, who sent me another car, which I assembled and charged the battery for 16 hours. The girls (excited again about their new toy) jumped in and it made it about 10 feet and stopped. After several calls to Safety First and jumping through many hoops they had a parcel delivery service pick up both cars and sent me my money (almost $400) back. The only good point is that the employees at Safety First were very helpful and polite but the product is inferior quality.

1.0 out of 5 stars RUINED MY KIDS XMAS!!!, December 29, 2007

Boy was she excited to see this under the tree. Ok we put it together only one side would go so she ended up going in circles. Her big sisters were nice enough to push her around all day. It was also leaking a liquid :-( we have had quite a few electric cars and they never had any problems. We call the company and they tell us it needs a new motor and to bring it into a service station??!! HI We JUST BOUGHT THIS! IT'S NEW there should not be any problems. Promptly returned it to the store. What a horribel product and horrible company.

2.0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk, December 18, 2007

We purchased this vehicle for our daughter for her 5th birthday and have been disappointed from day one. The car's electronics don't work at all and the steering wheel doesn't work either. We took it back to Toys r us because they assembled it and were told too bad, call the 1-800 number because we don't service these. We never even used it, we were given a defective product and our daughter is sad because she's seen it but never riden in it. Happy Birthday, huh?
We are going to return it because of the sorry excuse for customer service seen at Toy r us...way to stand behind your assembly and product!! I'm appalled and won't shop there again.
Don't waste your money buying this unless you have a degree in engineering and electronics.

1.0 out of 5 stars Would be better if it drives, January 8, 2007
This review is from: Pink Corvette Ride-On (Toy)
Had to return this ride on after a couple of rides. It is very cute, great extras (lights, radio). My daughter was thrilled to have ride ons like her brothers. It is very easy to assemble and drives great in reverse. The big problem is that it does not consistently drive forward. My sons have a Power Wheels jeep and a Razor Dirt Quad, both have excellent quality. The Barbie jeep just CANNOT compare!! I would prefer to have less extras and a car that actually drives.

This toy is extremly dagerious for childern to ride if there is even a slight encline. Also in the Toys R Us store in Johnson City Tennessee While the car was being charged it caught on Fire. It has a weight amount of 120 lbs. when my grandaughter and niece together weighing about 90 lbs rode in the driveway it started going backwards very fast and uncontrolable it ran into a large stump that could have killed them if it had hit in the right way. It totally has no stopping system.

I recently reviewed this. I was very disappointed about the battery. However, we found that car did come with a battery. It said that the battery had to be shipped separately, but one was in the car. The car is very cute. The only thing we worry about is the fact that some day the battery will need to be replaced. It takes a 12 volt battery that we could not find in stores as a replacement battery. Do not buy a six volt. Even the twelve volt batteries we saw did not fit. Howerver, the car is very nice. Jeanne
