5.0 out of 5 stars This VHS Fullscreen Version Is More In-Your-Face!
If you are a fan of The Wall, then you owe it to yourself to have it both on the widescreen DVD AND the fullscreen VHS versions! The DVD version definitely shows more musically and visually, however the fullscreen VHS version is more in-your-face just like the movie itself. They both provide 2 different experiences with The Wall and I really enjoy them both! Although I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but depressing
The music is good.. I wouldn't recommend getting it just for the music tho' unless you don't watch. It was hard for me to fully enjoy the music with images of magets, cartoon figures getting their heads smashed in, and pink tearing his flesh of in a pool full of blood. This movie is about many kinds of suffering, ignorance, cruelty and the horror of war. These things,...

This review is from: Pink Floyd The Wall (VHS Tape)
If you are a fan of The Wall, then you owe it to yourself to have it both on the widescreen DVD AND the fullscreen VHS versions! The DVD version definitely shows more musically and visually, however the fullscreen VHS version is more in-your-face just like the movie itself. They both provide 2 different experiences with The Wall and I really enjoy them both! Although I agree with David Gilmour to some extent it being "really black and bleek", but not as much as the artwork may lead you to believe! Great references on everything from Syd to Roger's childhood to life as a rock star and everything in between! Your Floyd collection isn't complete until you grab this!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Undisputable Masterpiece, April 27, 1999
By A Customer
Roger Waters is not saying anything revolutionary, it is THE WAY in which he gets his point across that makes his art stand out. The Wall is the first work of art in history to combine music, lyrics, and visuals in such an articulate fashion. Anyone who has had the privilege to watch this movie on the big screen will understand what I mean. Though chaos seems to reign in both album and movie, as the plot unravels we see what strange sense Mr. Waters has made of this sad phenomenon we call life. The Wall focuses the negative aspects of life in such a powerful fashion as to give a plausible argument that life is an endless chaotic cycle. This does not imply, however, that Roger Waters' world view should be taken as a standard for life. Syd Barrett was undoubtedly the original "Pink" who gave Pink Floyd its complex musical edge, but it was Roger Waters who perfected the musical, and especially the lyrical arrangements which culminated in Pink Floyd's climax-in my opinion ever Rock n' Rolls climax-with the 1979 release of The Wall, which was topped in 1982 with the release of the movie of The Wall. The Wall is an incredibly complex and symbolic work, written by a man who rode the biggest wave, saw through life, and did not like what he saw. The complexity of the messages allows for many interpretations. The Wall will remain contemporary for as long as the human instincts remain active.

Pink Floyds- The Wall is one of the few movies that can be liked by people of all ages. It is a look into what makes us tick, and what sets us off. It shows how good things can go bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars a masterpiece for music, September 11, 1999
By A Customer
why a masterpiece? How many music movies are any good. What, moonwalker? Get real! The Wall is a one-of-kind movie which you don't see to often. It is very symbolic in its portral of changes we go through in life and how sometimes change can be for the worse. Now, maybe I'm the only one who see's this, but who cares. To me, it's a classic. p.s.-why was it discontinued and will it be brought back on vhs?

5.0 out of 5 stars DVD release soon!, August 17, 1999
By A Customer
In an interview with Roger Waters concerning his summer tour a radio DJ asked whether or not we would see The Wall re-released on DVD.

Waters said the he and Gerald Scarfe did an audio commentary for the movie. Also the "Hey You" track missing from the original movie was to be in there as well.
