5.0 out of 5 stars Pink Ladies and Crimson Gents: Portraits and Legends of 50 Roses, June 8, 2008
This review is from: Pink Ladies & Crimson Gents: Portraits and Legends of 50 Roses (Hardcover)
This little book is a delight and a treasure! I have read and re-read it several times, not to mention gifting it to several rose friends.

The writing is informative, yet entertaining. The photographs are gorgeous and guaranteed to set a rose-lover off on a search for plants of their own. I recommend this one for your own collection, the night table in the guest room and to give to friends.

Bought this for my mom as a gift after seeing it mentioned in Victoria magazine. It is a BEAUTIFUL book! Not too large, but with the nice paper and beautiful photos of a coffee table type book. She loved it - and that's what really counts!

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful flower book, August 31, 2008

I bought this book as a gift for a flower loving friend. Even though she is not particularly into roses, it was such a beautifully illustrated and interestingly annotated piece that it was a real success. I just might get one for myself. It makes a great small coffee table book as each easily read description can be finished in just a few minutes. Its a truly wonderful little book.

This is a wonderful book for rose lovers. It makes a great gift, also. It has a interesting way of explaining the namesake's history of 50 popular roses. I first found in at my local library and liked it so much that I ordered a personal copy.

I own many, many books but this was dessert for my soul. I did not want it to end, savoring every last morsel. The photographs are exquisite and the stories about each rose are a pleasure to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine book on Roses and their Naming, March 28, 2009

Pink Ladies & Crimson Gents: Portraits and Legends of 50 Roses

This is a wonderful book about the names of some of the older roses. It gives you some history of the rose breeder as well as whom the rose was named for. The photos of the roses are crisp, clear delights every single one. Even if the written word was not so well done the book would be worth its price just for the fine images therein. If you love roses of all kinds and like to know some history around their naming, then this book belongs in your library. Very enjoyable read.
