Book Description

My granny once told me that I was sitting on a gold mine. She was right, even though I had no idea what she was talking about as a young’n. Later on, other babes in my neighborhood hit me with gems like “keep a nickel between ya legs.” To this day, I’m still trying to figure that one out. My name is Cherokee, but I’m known as Pinky thanks to some “brotherly love.” My journal is full of drama, problems, sex, and stories you’d have to read to believe. I have truly seen it all and left my past on my journal pages. The only thing left for me to do is share my story and let you be the judge…

5.0 out of 5 stars My Girl, Cherokee! February 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Okay, so I began reading this book one evening while lounging on the couch. I hadn't even realized how far I'd gotten until...well, I was finished. Seriously, that's how easy of a read it was. I loved the main character, Cherokee--hell, I might even be her in some aspects, not all (wink). She was real, not uppity, but not ghetto either. Again, real. The author does a great job of letting you into not only Cherokee's world, but also her mind. It's written in first person, so you get a true authenticity of what Cherokee is experiencing every step of the way. As she transitions from "Pinky" in her hometown at granny's, to low-key Cherokee, the new girl, in her new home across the way, the plot gets intense. I was so glad there was a Part 2 to this thang, because when I was done, I was forced to want more! Great read!

2.0 out of 5 stars suck'd November 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So high school-ish! I thought the story was so boring that I was gonna die! It had its moments but nothing to really keep my interest. I thought the main female character was a typical slutty hood rat. I really didn't enjoy it, I kept reading hoping that things would finally pop off but it didn't. It had Zero eroticism--it was just boring! The best part of the book was it ending....don't waste your time unless you like high school-ish type stories, with no drama, no sex. I really didn't get the storyline-- I couldn't figure out what exactly the book suppose to be? Romance? Drama? --what?!

2.0 out of 5 stars Huh? September 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is all over the place, I'm sorry but I just got confused on so many levels. It's like the author would throw things in that wasn' revealed previously. Example, Cherokee happens to mention she had to move to her mom's because she was caught in the house with a dude but that was only mentioned and then she moved on. No insight into what happened? Then the situation with Nell when Cherokee finds out he has a baby on the way and Nell says he isn't even sure if the baby Essence is carrying is his? Wait what just happened here? It was never revealed Essence was pregnat until then, huh? Just too many inconsistencies for me!
