4.0 out of 5 stars title of review, May 5, 2005
This review is from: Pink Razors (Audio CD)
It's amazing how these guys can take a bunch of tired Ramones riffs and make songs that really have a life of their own. This record is catchy like the plague. I don't think it's as good as Born On The First Of July, so maybe buy that album first, but after a five year break between albums, and assuming I'd never hear anything new from these guys again, this album is a nice surprise, and a thoroughly worthwhile antidote to the pretentious cynical rock scene of 2005. It even has an audio commentary at the end, where they play the album a second time and talk over it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid comeback after five years, August 1, 2005
By
Destroy Boy (www.ohboydestroy.com) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pink Razors (Audio CD)
I'm really surprised this record even exists. If you've been following Chixdiggit! you know their last
record came out in 2000 so you wouldn't be blamed if you thought these guys were defunct.
Lending more evidence to that train of thought was the fact that their last album was the weakest
of the bunch so they in turn wouldn't be blamed for packing up and heading home. Thankfully that
isn't the case as this is their best album ever.

The basic formula remains unchanged, sped up Ramones style songs with goofy lyrics and lots
of backing vocals, but they must have really hunkered down these last few years as they've
seriously upgraded their sound. Gone our the lackluster cuts that tended to drag on their last
record (for the most part!) and back is the infectious energy, fun lyrics and great melodies of their
earlier work but only stronger. While most of the songs are top notch the mid paced monster
does rear its head in a couple places but even on these they've mixed in some tasteful choruses
and solos to make them more paletable.

Those brief moments are washed right over by the high energy cuts like the opener "Welcome To
The Diaso" and super sing along "Geocities Kitty" that beat anything in their back catalog in terms
of pure energy and catchy songwriting. Another song that leaves me rolling on the floor every time
is the lyrics on "You're Pretty Good" which is basically what someone said to them after a show.
You can imagine they were less than enthusiastic to hear that. That kid must not have heard this
record yet!

Seriously, this is the best stuff this band has ever put out so if you're a fan this album is not to be
missed. If you've never heard them before than think of a funnier, faster version of the Ramones
and you're starting to get the picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars Always cool., March 8, 2006

This band never makes a sub-par record. I've always been a fan since their SubPop days. They're great live and they make super-catchy songs.
