Fantastic! This story is just what my daughter needed to read. Looking forward to many more books. --.

Not only were my daughters excited about each chapter, but my son also enjoyed the antics between Peanut and her brother Scott. Highly recommend for parents looking for a good chapter book. --.

My son, Nick (1st grade) and daughter, Kylie, (2nd grade) absolutely love the Pinky & Peanut stories! They can't wait until the next one comes out!

As a current second grade teacher, I have seen first-hand my students' love for this series. The size of this "skinny chapter book" is just right for second grade readers. The story line is easy for them to follow and to relate to. I am looking forward to book number 3!

My daughter received this book as a gift, and I initially thought she wouldn't be interested because she doesn't know how to read and the book is light on pictures. However, I read her the first chapter one evening and she was HOOKED. So we started a routine where we read one chapter a night (and the chapter concept is so great for little kids), and before starting, I would ask questions about what happened in the prior chapter. The book is written in a way that provides just enough information and illustrations to pique a child's interest -- but equally, to let their imagination run free so that they can visualize, on their own, what is happening in pinky and peanut's world. I am sure that if my daughter could read, she would have gravitated toward this book on her own. However, I would highly recommend it to parents who are looking to 'graduate' their children from easy-read picture books and on to a well-written and charming story that captivates the attention and introduces them to the world of more colorful prose, a slightly more complicated story line, and fewer - but still very well-done -- illustrations.

The authors have created a fun book for young children! The characters, Pinky and Peanut, are well developed in the story, and the illustrations really bring them to life. I can see children being drawn into the antics of the pair of friends, and getting involved in the unfolding story as the two girls go through life at home and at school.

But, the best thing about the book is that the story is wholesome and emphasizes the importance of friendship - and that friendship takes work. Learning to say "I'm sorry" is part of the lesson for the two girls, and learning the lesson brings real rewards.

There was a time when more children's books carried important moral messages. I'm glad that the two authors, both teachers, have found a way to capture the imagination of kids, tell a fun story, and teach - all at the same time.

Parents with younger children should love this book!

We met Pinky and Peanut at a homeschool convention and fell in love instantly! They are fun and exciting, and just like my little girl. She thinks they are "so cool" and she loves reading the books. We started reading the series on a long road trip, and we did not stop reading until the first book was finsihed. We read the second book on the way home! We are now very excited about numbe three. We went on the Pinky and Peanut website and downloaded some fun coloring activities associated with the book. These really brought the characters to life. This book is HIGHLY recommended by our family. They are clean and Pinky and Peanut are very realistic. It makes you wish they lived next door!

This book is charming and fun, following the adventures of "Pinky" and "Peanut", two young girls who are both sad about having to move to a new town. They quickly find each other (living right across the street!) and instantly 'click' when they introduce themselves and discover they both have funny nicknames. Secret clubhouses, annoying brothers, lovable pets--this book makes you want to snuggle with your kids and have some cookies and milk while your read. My 3- and 5-year-old love to listen to me read aloud; soon enough they'll be reading on their own, and hopefully they'll have more Pinky and Peanut adventures ahead of them!

Former second-grade teachers Deena Cook and Cherie McIntosh present Pinky and Peanut: The Adventure Begins, a novel for young people about two young girls, Pinky and Peanut, each of whom is unhappy about being forced to move to a new town at the end of summer before starting second grade. Yet a chance meeting in their new hometown leads them to a summer adventure of friendship and fun together. A handful of simple black-and-white illustrations intersperse this entertaining and delightful story about the joy of getting to know new people.
