5.0 out of 5 stars Works Perfectly with XP MCE 2005.
I bought this Media Center Remote unsure if it would work with XP Media Center. It was not plug and play on XP but after a quick search on google for drivers it worked perfectly. Spent no more than 60 seconds looking for the XP Drivers (No drivers disc is included in the package). Perfect remote for the price. Will be purchasing another for a different computer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk - don't waste your money.
This remote is junk - don't waste your money. Get the Microsoft branded MCE remote/receiver combo. It works much better.

Background: I recently built another Win7 Media Center PC and needed a remote/receiver combo to drive the Media Center interface. I have another Win7 MCE that has the Microsoft MCE remote/receiver and that unit has worked flawlessly...

5.0 out of 5 stars Pinnacle Remote, May 11, 2008
This review is from: Pinnacle Remote Kit for Windows Media Center On Vista (Personal Computers)
My Vista pc picked it up and installed without any prompts for drivers. Vista walked me through the prompts for setting up the connection to my digital cable box via the ir blaster and it works flawlessly.

Definately can't be beat for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plug and Play, April 24, 2008
This review is from: Pinnacle Remote Kit for Windows Media Center On Vista (Personal Computers)
This a really handy Remote Kit for Windows Media Center, I installed it and use it with Vista 64bit ... plugged it all in .. it was recognised by the media center setup. Everything works well, some very handy buttons, giving you direct jumps to "My Music" "My Pictures" "My Video" "Recorded TV" "DVD Menu" "Live TV" and "Guide" ... I'm using it with Comcast Digital, and it works well with that (altho I cant seem to use the pay per view services).

I have two of these right now, and both work perfectly. Quick access to main files...not terribly vast amount of remote buttons, but for Media Center PC, it does the job.

This remote is junk - don't waste your money. Get the Microsoft branded MCE remote/receiver combo. It works much better.

Background: I recently built another Win7 Media Center PC and needed a remote/receiver combo to drive the Media Center interface. I have another Win7 MCE that has the Microsoft MCE remote/receiver and that unit has worked flawlessly. The Microsoft remote can learn my Sony TV remote's ON/OFF/VOLUME function by holding down the [OK] and [DVD MENU] button. This way, I can consolidate down to 1 remote for MCE and TV functions.

Despite what the documentation says, programing for the Pinnacle remote did not work for me. Some of the buttons on the remote is tiny and hard to press. There are better remotes out there, I would not get this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT.... Works 100% on COMCAST DTA Cable Box, November 6, 2009

This review is from: Pinnacle Remote Kit for Windows Media Center On Vista (Personal Computers)
I had installed this unit and works very well with Comcast DTA Cable Box (Small Black Box).

1.) Install IR Remote Receiver and plug in Port 1 back to see left side jack.

2.) Grab the Comcast Remote control to learn to train the Media Center.

3.) Change setting to Set-Box Converter and follow instructions. Make sure DTA Converter box set channel 4... BEST WAY.

Make Sure timing Changing channel to set "SLOW" and May work Medium. But Suggest set to Slow..
Make sure IR Blaster Cable with IR unit (Un-peel the sticker) Place away from green LED few 1/4 inch. Press firmly. DO NOT PRESS hard.... CAN DAMAGE the front lens.

Make sure the Channel 2 is match from MCE Remote control program as Channel 2..

See Referring at Microsoft website how to program remote control and as well Pinnacle System website as well for more support help. I tested on Windows Vista Ultimate. Also will work Windows 7 Ultimate!

Take extra time program and can be little bit tricky.. NOTE: COMCAST can NOT help you on how programing the DTA to MEDIA CENTER!! THEY HAVE NO EXPERIENCED HOW IT WORKS !!!

ENJOY!

I use this as much as my regular TV remote. I have a dual-tuner in my computer to record two shows concurrently. This remote allows me to control Windows Media Center from the comfort of the sofa - no mouse needed. It makes the whole experience much more enjoyable. Windows Media Center lists two weeks of programs for my cable carrier and I can set recording, play, delete, fast-forward and do anything you would expect of any DVR or VCR. My system has Vista Home Premium Edition.

This remote works well in Vista and required very little setup. Also was able to get it working in Kubuntu Linux with a lot of effort.

I recommend this device to anyone who is just starting out in HTPCs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plugged it in, it worked, I'm happy, January 5, 2009
This review is from: Pinnacle Remote Kit for Windows Media Center On Vista (Personal Computers)
I wanted a remote for my Vista MCE PC and this one worked well. I plugged it in, vista installed the device and it worked. The button layout leaves a little to be desired, but I think I'll try to use a programmable remote that I have and use it with the pinnacle receiver. In either case this is a good remote that's basically plug and play.
