5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD...better band, July 20, 2005

This band was awesome! Too bad they got the shaft from their record company. Their lable never pushed the album so the band never made it. I saw this band at the CD release party for another great Dallas Band called 'Spot' in 1995 or so. They rocked! I waited for months for the CD, when I got it, it was good, although it really failed to capture how awesome the band was live. The CD lacked the same energy, but was still very good. Best way to describe it is Alternative Rock with a heavy emo influence...but NOT emo. If you, like me, think that 1995-96 were the best years for music especially in Dallas, you will love Tablet....but if you like all the crap called 'Alternative' today, sorry, this CD is way to unique and creative for you and sounds nothing like Coldplay or Creed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of disturbing creativity, November 15, 1998

I had the good fortune to see Tablet perform live on several occasions here in Houston. In fact, I bought this CD at the first Tablet show I went to. The best thing I can say about these guys is that they write songs the kind of songs I wish I could write... at once familiar, and yet also totally original. In a just world, Tablet would have gone on to greater fame... but alas, that hasn't happened (yet). If you enjoy "alternative rock" (god, I hate that label), you owe it to yourself to check this band out. So far, everyone I've recommended this CD to has really liked it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Haunting lyrics coupled with unique-creative arrangements., August 10, 1998

A virtually unknown band from Dallas that could have obtained national popularity had more poeple been given the chance to hear them. "Cancelled" is a very catchy track that fuses a popular "80's" sound with a "90's" attitude. One listen to "Cancelled" and you realize the potential of this band. The rest of the album is quite daunting and filled with depressing topics. But the music takes center stage. Each is unique in it's musical arrangemnts. "When I die" although depressing in content, is overtaken by its floating magical rythms. "Methadone" who's content is obvious in nature is another gem for this band. Although "grungy" in nature, you will hear sounds and arrangements unlike any you've heard from pop bands of the 90's. If remotely interested in a unique, unidscovered sound, then Tablet's "Pinned" is a must buy.
