4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, decent design
These are pretty solid speaker mounts, given that you're willing to drill into your speakers: the brackets themselves are strong and fairly well-designed, and the supplied hardware is OK. My one caveat is that the inserts for plaster walls are ineffective, but that's common for these sorts of things.

I've used these mounts to put up a fairly heavy (8-10 pound)...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good, but got a bad bolt
I like this product.. seems really sturdy etc. But one of the bolts basically had no threads on it - it basically looked like a pin with scratches on the side. So some quality control issues there. I can go buy a bolt, but it's another trip to the hardware store and a couple bucks. I haven't installed yet, but I think you'd need to be somewhat handy to install these...

My one caveat is that the inserts for plaster walls are ineffective, but that's common for these sorts of things.

I've used these mounts to put up a fairly heavy (8-10 pound) set of bookshelf speakers, and they can clearly handle the weight without much of an issue. They're made from some sort of cast fibrous material which seems plenty strong; I find it hard to imagine any bookshelf speakers that would really cause problems.

They're also small and unobtrusive, mostly hidden behind the speakers, but if you catch a glance of them, they look pretty good. Maybe I just feel positive about them because I'm so happy to have my speakers up on my kitchen wall where I tend to spend all my time. They're solid. Just make sure to hit a stud or supply your own drywall inserts.

Bought these to replace a pair of Init speaker mounts (NT-SWM2) that were sagging with only half their 8 lb rated load. The Pinpoints are solid, the design just plain makes good sense. Adjusting the speaker angle is very easy.

Two caveats, you may have to drill into the back of your speakers unless you design a bracket. Two, the adjustments are only side-to-side and up/down, you cannot adjust the rotation. Make sure you attach the brackets to the speakers very square, and the same for the two wall mounts.

Appears to be of good quality lightweight polymer/plastic. No trouble assembling & installing my speakers. Your main concern will be to mount into a stud in your wall. Brackets do not extend very far away from the wall, hence will not be able to tilt very far up or down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good mounts, September 16, 2009

These brackets are perfect for medium to large speakers. I mounted a pair of Onkyo front speakers that are 16" tall and around 9 lbs, and these handle the weight easily. They swivel, tilt, and lock into position. Easy to install if you are even somewhat handy. One bad thing though, my kit was missing two of the wing nuts, so I had to buy my own. J&R will reimburse me for my cost of replacing them, so no biggie. I'm sure missing hardware is rare, so don't let that sway your decision.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smaller than they look, Solid Construction, October 8, 2010

I'm doing a dedicated theater and bought these to mount Onkyo Speakers. They handled the weight of the speakers just fine, the fronts are over 20lbs. I had reservations about them because the looked more complicated than speaker mounts need to be. However I was very pleased with the quality of the product.

The speakers do sit away from the walls a little bit, but the distance is needed for aiming larger speakers. If the gap wasn't there the speakers would hit the wall. I drilled a hole through the top mounting plates for the wiring to come through for a cleaner look and the structure was unaffected. If mounting into a stud they come with everything you need. If securing just through drywall you'll want to get different anchors than the one's provided, the spring loaded metal flippy kind would work best.

If you need to mount big speakers securely these are the mounts for you. If you have small speakers look at something else.

I have these holding up some Sony SS-B1000 speakers. These mounts easily handle the weight.

Good mounting configuration design easy to attach to wall, wingnut adjustment is intuitive and easy.

Be sure to hit a stud or go get some heavy duty drywall anchors the ones that come with the mount don't inspire trust.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great brackets., May 6, 2009
This review is from: Pinpoint AM 10 Universal Bookshelf Speaker Wall Mount - Pinpoint AM10 (Electronics)
These brackets are very good and well designed -- a great bargain!

I used them to mount Klipsch RS-52 speakers (which are 15 pounds each). No problem at all holding that weight.

My only challenge was that the bracket screw spacing for fastening to the speaker could not work around the area containing the speaker wire connectors to fasten directly to the wooden back. I made an adapter plate that I fastened to the bracket and then fastened the plate to the back of the speaker using existing screw mounting holes. Turns out this is probably stronger than screwing directly into the wood.

The brackets are great for directing the sound towards the audience. They are also small enough that they are essentially unseen from all parts of the room unless you are right by the wall to which it is mounted.

Again, great deal!

I was drawn to use these brackets based on the design and versatility. Plus, it has a really nice modern look for my dance studio. I went to Sam Ash and Guitar Center, but their brackets were far too beefy and expensive for my use. I have approximately 15lbs speakers on these brackets on gypsum board walls and they seem to be very sturdy. I did use their gyp board screws that came in the box. Being that its such a big space on the studio, i was able to change the direction of the sound by rotating the speakers by hand. No tools needed. Plus, if I ever need to replace a blown speaker, they come right off just by unplugging the wiring. I'm 100% satisfied with the price and their capabilities!
