4.0 out of 5 stars Practice Knit and Release May 16, 2009
Format:Paperback
I used to smoke, now I knit. This means that knitting in bars was an absolute necessity. I'm quite adept with the manipulation of yarn, needles and pint at this time.

I was very pleased with the patterns and the clarity of the rating system (clever use of beer bottles to show the difficulty level). The whole book was a well written great read.

I would have enjoyed a few more patterns in the five + range for those of us who make a habit out of supporting our local breweries and pubs.

The photographs are stunning and are set in the kinds of places that I find myself knitting. I was disappointed with the drunken sweater pattern's picture because it doesn't show the intended effect (I think).

Overall, a book worth giving as a gift and most certainly worth adding to your shelf. For those of this with this bent, I'd pair it with "Naughty Needles" and call it a day!

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing! April 30, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the 1st knitting book that I've actually bothered to READ! Usually, I buy a book for the patterns & could care less about reading anything else in it. I started looking through the patterns, caught a paragraph here & there, & decided to start reading this one! I found it very entertaining & refreshing! It has some very nice patterns that are easy to pick up & take with you, & this was what I was looking for, since I love to knit, but don't get a lot of time to devote to involved or long-term projects. There's a little bit of something for everybody in this book, & some great get-together ideas for friends, as well!

4.0 out of 5 stars good book February 8, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Great for most levels. I wouldn't call the beginners patterns ''beginner'' simply because I am one, and still struggling with one of the patterns with the 4 bottles displayed. O well...

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing December 9, 2009
Format:Paperback
I love this book! In response to another comment its quite refreshing to have a book with drinking in mind. I knit and I drink, it's wonderful to combine the two, and to have so many portable projects. Knitters come in all ages, shapes and sizes so it's a breath of fresh air to have something different on the market. Thank you Ms. Bruce and Ms. Collins.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great idea. Disappointing in execution. June 5, 2009
Format:Paperback
This book is really fun to read and has some great projects. Sadly, I have to rate the book poorly. Unfortunately the binding of the book came unglued the first day I had it. Not the authors' fault, but a dissatisfier nonetheless. I made the six-pack caddy and it is great. I started making the wine cozy and found the directions for the bottom of the cozy to be very unclear. I've been knitting for 40 of my 46 years, so I followed my instincts and everything turned out fine. If someone inexperienced follows the directions as written they will probably be in trouble.

Hats off for the concept of the book. Thumbs down on the quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious! September 10, 2010
By Tricia
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is so funny! I love the philosophy that knitting is for ALL AGES! The patterns in this book are of good variety - there is something in here for everyboy! From whimsical hats to sturdy bags to gorgeous sweaters, there's a little bit of everything to cover all skill levels (not to mention levels of enebriation!).

I highly recommend it to all hip knitters, regardless of your age!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't assume you can follow the patterns as written September 24, 2012
Format:Paperback
I've done a few projects out of this book and have found multiple mistakes in the patterns along the way. Unfortunately I seem to realize that there are mistakes after I've already followed the instructions and then have to undo a bunch of my work to fix it.
I wouldn't recommend a beginner try this book or they'd have a heck of a time trying to figure out where they went wrong.
Cute idea, but they should have done more proofreading.
