I'm in love with velvet flannel now!!!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pinzon 200-Gram Supima Velvet Flannel King Sheet Set, Bone (Kitchen)
Thanks to Amazon, I have become a self professed 'sheet snob'; luckily for me (courtesy of Amazon) at an affordable price!
Last year, for the first time I had the fortunate opportunity to purchase and experience 500 and 800 thread count sheets made my High Country Linens that I bought here. My Mom, my Aunt and myself fell in love with them so much that we donated all of our other sheets and replaced them with these wonderful sheets. I STILL LOVE them as they are durable, silky smooth with a nice, weighty feel vs the old 150 or 200 thread count flimsy sheets I was used to. I have trouble getting to sleep at night and also staying asleep at night and one of the worst things are when you have little kids is to be sleep deprived. One of the worst ways to wake is wake up in my opinion is at 2am shivering from being cold even though you have socks, sheets and your blanket covering you. Although my beloved sheets (Yes, I'm a little nutty over sheets) were FABULOUS, I had to admit that I was still freezing on the really cold nights. I grew up with my parents giving me flannel sheets during the winter time and although they WERE warmer, I HATED the pilling effect after a few washes so I refused to give in. Until that is, I found out there was such a thing as 'velvel flannel'. Talk about the WOW effect!!! When I took them out of the package, they were smooth but sort of heavy feeling from being flat in the package. I immediately washed them and I could tell when I took them out of the washer that I was going to love them (I DO use fabric softener but I'll be looking to change to something else so that it doesn't deteriorate the fabric more than it needs to over time). I was literally grinning with delight when I took them out of the dryer and my husband was rolling his eyes at me since I had JUST changed our sheets last night. We have a 15" mattress that I have trouble fitting our waterproof mattress cover over but this sheet had plenty of room to spare so I do believe that it will easily fit a thicker mattress. Surprisingly, even though there was more room, it didn't get loose over night either when I tucked the excess under my mattress, which was nice. Talk about SMOOTH, luxurious, soft and oh so warm and cozy!!!! I didn't wake once last night from being cold or even hot, everything was perfect! When I put these new velvet flannel sheets on, our little one even proclaimed that he was sleeping on them with Mommy instead of his bed and even had me change out his Pottery Barn Kids choo choo pillow because he decided it was 'dirty' and that Mommy's was COMFIER although his was just changed last night too. There was some very lightweight lint in the dryer but that was to be expected with flannel. It's my hope that over time, there will be less so it stays in my sheets vs losing it's softness over time. But usually there is a TEENY bit of pilling with even good flannel even in the first wash and there is NONE whatesoever on these sheets!!!! What surprised me is that I dried them on Medium for 80 minutes and they came out bone dry. I expected them to require more drying time or on high heat (I was worried about shrinkage which did NOT happen or if any did, it did not effect mine at all.) I got the bone color and ordered extra standard pillows and it's great that the dye lots match perfectly (I've had them arrived mismatched before in other brands), it's a nice, soft color but it's a bit on the 'yellow' spectrum for a bone color in my opinion. It IS still nice...sort of a cream - yellow color but if I had my choice, I would have rather have had a more neutral ivory / bone color instead. I LOVE white sheets in the summer but for some reason, I like a more muted color in the winter and these are nice. I purchased mine when they had these in the gold box deals for $39.99 for the king size and $5.99 for extra pillow cases and I'm kicking myself for not ordering more!!! :-( My wishes / complaints? I wish they had more standard pillow cases in stock, I WISH they had the 200 thread count in SUPIMA velvet flannel in a TWIN and FULL size for my kid's beds!!!! And of course, I wish that they'd run that $39.99 special again!!! :-) Oh! And more COLORS!!!! I'd LOVE a taupe color in these sheets!!! Even if I had to pay the current $79.99 on these, I still would NOT regret it, they are scrumptious!!!! You will not regret it! I also think that these would make a WONDERFUL gift!!! Just be sure to get some for yourself too!! :-) Here's to some happy, comfy ZZZZZ's....

SAVE YOUR MONEY - SAME LABEL, SAME RN# & SAME FABRIC AS THE PINZON 190g. VELVETS!,
By Shop Gal (Kirkland, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pinzon 200 Gram Supima Velvet Flannel Sheet Set (Kitchen)
I recently received a set of Pinzon 190g Velvet Flannels and decided I wanted to try the 200 g. Velvet Flannels to see if they were any more luxurious. I received my 200 g. Velvet Flannels two days ago, washed them and decided to compare them with my new, only once washed, 190 g. flannels. I couldn't tell any difference whatsoever between the two different weights. They looked and felt identical right down to the finish and stitching. So I decided to take a look at the sewn in tags and to no surprise the tags on both weights were identical right down to the manufacturer's RN#'s. The only difference I could find between the two were the prices ($$$$) and the stickers on the outside of the plastic packages.
Perhaps mine were mislabeled? Do yourself a favor if you are considering buying the 200 g. and order both weights and then decide. My bet is you'll keep the 190 g., return the 200 g. and save yourself a whole lot of money, especially if you are like me and like to order extra pillowcases, etc.!

Greatest Flannel Sheets Yet-Silky Soft,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pinzon 200-Gram Supima Velvet Flannel Queen Sheet Set, Juniper (Kitchen)
The first thing we look for in flannel sheets is "Made in Portugal". The next thing we check out is the weight of the flannel. These sheets meet all the criteria. They ring in at almost 6 oz/square yard. I thought that luxury was 5.3 oz. These are generously cut, well made (generous hems) and silky soft. All flannel pills and we don't find any problems with these sheets. Heavy, soft and very warm. The best flannel sheets we have ever owned and we have used flannel exclusively for over 20 years.

Best Flannel Sheets EVER,

I just purchased the 200 gram flannel sheets in saffron, and they are the best flannel sheets I've ever owned. They are so thick/dense you cannot see through them when you hold them up to the light. Whatever process they use to create the "velvet" part of these sheets is amazing. It feels like velvet and hasn't pilled yet (washed weekly, slept on them for a week already). The color is nice, too; sort of a very gold yellow color. They are so warm! No more frozen feet!

Very Good Overall, But...(SEE UPDATES),
This review is from: Pinzon 200 Gram Supima Velvet Flannel Sheet Set (Kitchen)
I love these sheets overall, BUT cannot give them 5 stars for the following reasons. 1. The bottom sheet is way too big for my 15" tall queen mattress. It's way too deep in the pockets, but would be good for a much taller mattress. It does bunch up significantly. However, the top sheet is just about the right size for my mattress. It could be just a little wider and longer for a taller mattress. 2. The pillowcases are just plain too short. I have queen-sized pillows on my queen-sized bed and the pillowcases do not cover the pillow. Frankly, they would not even be long enough to correctly overhang a standard-sized pillow. I have washed and dried them according to instructions three times now. We do love the soft, thick, warm feel of the fabric and so far, no signs of piling. These sheets are equivalent to 7+ ounce flannel and sewn very well. I would have much preferred an ivory-type color, but had to settle for taupe; which is a nice soft color, but doesn't match the rest of my bedding. Amazon, PLEASE, get more of the size and color that is most popular! Otherwise, very cozy winter sheets for us Northerners! UPDATE: Have washed and dried over three dozen times now, still in great shape! No signs of wear, fading, shrinking or pilling; still soft and cozy! Just wish they fit a little better, otherwise, a pleasure to sleep in! ALSO: Have purchased both 200 gram and 190 gram versions. While they are VERY, VERY similar---200 gram version is more generously cut, very slightly thicker and noticeably softer. RN #'s and other info on tags is the same, except for the word Supima on 200 gram version, but there are some differences in the product. Slightly prefer 200 gram version, but 190 gram version is very, very close. UPDATE: Purchased 4 sets of these in all, biggest complaint is INCONSISTENT SIZING! Last year's version was way too big. This year's, too small!

Very soft but not durable at all,

I ordered these sheets and washed them right away. The first night I used them, they ripped with very little use. The hole is too big to even fix by sewing. I will continue to use the flat sheet and pillowcases, because I already have them. But the fitted sheet ripped way too easy for being brand new.

This review is from: Pinzon 200-Gram Supima Velvet Flannel Queen Sheet Set, Juniper (Kitchen)
These are by far the nicest flannel sheets I've ever slept on - hands down. I washed them before using and they had ZERO pilling and very little was left in the lint trap.
They seemed a little pricey to me at first, given that I've only bought flannel sheets on clearance before, but now I realize that you really do get what you pay for in flannel sheets. I bought mine when they were an Amazon deal of the day for $36.99. I'd gladly pay more for these. Good Egyptian cotton usually costs more and they aren't nearly as luxurious as these. I highly recommend these. What a great gift they would make, too.

This is a great set of sheets. I usually buy Lands End's sheets, but decided to try something new. Based on the reviews that I read, I decided to purchase these sheets. They are so soft. They wash very well and don't pill. Try these sheets. You won't be disappointed.

ABSOLUTELY the BEST flannel in existence!,

This review is from: Pinzon 200-Gram Supima Velvet Flannel King Sheet Set, French Roast (Kitchen)
Silky soft and thickly dense, my first thought when I opened this package up was simply WOW! I couldnt wait to get it on my bed, and as instructed, washed it first.
The color (I got the French Roast) stayed fast in the wash, and in the dryer, because it was so dense, took a bit longer to dry, but the lint was VERY minimal, which was shocking to me! (I own lots of flannel!) Also, I didn't notice any pilling at all! Another shock! I have a king size bed, pillow top mattress, down featherbed, with a heated mattress pad, so my bed is VERY thick, but these sheets fit perfectly with room to spare. My first night sleeping in them was pure bliss! They were so warm, velvety soft, and just so luxurious! I slept like a baby! I sleep with my windows open in the middle of the winter of the Northeast, and with these sheets, my heated pad (I have raynauld's so I have to keep my toes warm! lol), and my down comforter, I can sleep in shorts and still be toasty! I wash my sheets every week to week and a half, and these have held up VERY well, still no pilling and color still as beautiful as day one! I don't think these can get ANY softer than the day I got them! Another added plus, unlike "velvet" these do not attract lint and hair as I feared, especially since I got a dark color. I was afraid that my dog's hair (A white Westie.) would show up and ruin it, but NOPE! AMAZING! And this is from a dog that likes to crawl UNDER my sheets and sleep with me, and then when she gets too warm, crawl back out and sleep on my pillow... lol (It's okay, I have a king size bed for just me and her!) I ordered it during a gold box special, and unfortunately the shipper lost my package. I had some issues re-ordering it at the great price with a customer rep, but after speaking to the supervisor, he sold it to me for the price I originally paid, plus applied a $10 promotional certificate for my troubles. Hence, I only paid $29.99 for it! I consider this a STEAL! These sheets are worth three times the amount! I loved these sheets so much, I also purchased the 190gram velvet sheets sold by amazon by the same manufacturer. No doubt, these are hands down THE BEST sheets EVER and I can't wait till it gets cold again next winter to take them back out!

This review is from: Pinzon 200-Gram Supima Velvet Flannel King Sheet Set, Silver Grey (Kitchen)
I washed the sheets as soon as I took them out of the package. I was skeptical of sleeping on flannel because I have always found flannel sheets to be rough. However, once I got between these sheets, I felt like I was in a warm cocoon. Even my husband remarked on the warm softness of the sheets. It was heavenly and I didn't think I would ever sleep on any other type of sheet. Then, after a week on the bed, the nap on the bottom sheet has become a bit rough. I am really disappointed. I will wash them tomorrow and will probably turn the bottom sheet over - for the softer nap, until they roughen up like the other side. These were wonderful sheets out of the package. I might just be too picky but it's worth writing this review - for other picky people out there.
