5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected
The first thing I love about these sheets is the rich color. The online images do not do it justice. Then I was pleasantly surprised how deep these sheets were. I have a memory foam mattress pad on top of my regular mattress and all past sheets would barely cover both let alone stay in place. I am very happy to say that these not only more than cover the entire set, but...

1.0 out of 5 stars Cardboard Would Be Better
Yes, the color is beautiful and rich. And yes, they wash well. But these are going into the trash because they are about as soft as cardboard. Some say they feel crisp -- I'd say stiff and scratchy. It's hard to believe that these have such a high thread count. I've tried everything: Softening sheets, liquid softener, plastic softener balls in the dryer. Forget it...

I have a memory foam mattress pad on top of my regular mattress and all past sheets would barely cover both let alone stay in place. I am very happy to say that these not only more than cover the entire set, but stay in place without riding up, even after several washings. The rich colors combined with the stripes added a smart clean warm look to the room. I would highly recommend these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slept like a baby, August 15, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These sheets are rich in color and texture, and remind me of the sheets in an old-time luxury hotel from days gone by. Just what I wanted for hot and humid nights. Smooth texture but not slippery with a very nice stripe damask that gives them an restful and inviting look. I washed then in very hot water and hung them on the line to dry so they could get that fresh outdoors smell and crispness you can't get in the dryer. They had no shrinkage I could see and some natural wrinkles are just exactly what one should have if they have cotton sheets without synthetic fibers or sizing. I just got these and so I can't comment on wear, but at this price, I've already gotten my money's worth. I looked at a lot of department store and speciaty store sheets before buying these. These are very good quality at a bargain price. I will buy more.

This product may look good, but you won't, after a sleepless night on these terrible sheets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, September 29, 2010

I read all the reviews of these sheets before I decided to purchase. Now that I've purchased them, I'm utterly mystified by all the people who said they were "scratchy." All I can say is: Huh? When they arrived I immediately washed them (who uses sheets without washing them, right?). They're absolutely fine. I can't stand the idea of paying $$$$ for sheets, so I always get mine at a deep discount store like Tuesday Morning or Home Goods -- or I used to buy them at Costco, before they stopped carrying full sheets. These are certainly comparable to anything I've purchased, and they're a very good value. (And you can get them in unusual colors!) I'd buy them again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Elastic in Fitted bottom fails completely in 5 months, May 29, 2009
The sheet fabric is very nice, though I would have paid $10 for an extra 4 inches of length on the top sheet. The fatal flaw is the elastic banding in the bottom fitted sheet. It slowly "relaxed" with each weekly washing (warm water, newish washer). In less than 6 months there was no elasticity at all. The sheet, as a result, won't stay on the bed. It is a fatal flaw, with no apparent recourse from Amazon. These are premium sheets, they should last for years, not 4 or 5 months. I'd rate zero stars if possible. Don't buy them, buy something else. Pay a little more or less but these will fail.

Pictured product looked soft and silky. Quite the opposite. Very stiff for over 400 thread count. Every time I turned over I would hear them crinkle. Took them off the bed after one night. Very disappointing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty to look at, scratchy to sleep in, November 24, 2007
The deal seemed too good to be true. It was. I've washed these sheets about 8 times and they're still not soft. They're stiff and scratchy. Not a recommended buy unless you have the time to wash the suckers into softness.

You cannot buy 440 TC, 100% cotton sheets at this price anywhere else. Yes, they are not silky right out the box, but, duh..., just wash them! They are plenty soft! If you want sheets that will last, sheets of 100% cotton, and nice colors, these are great. I have purchased two sets, and love them. I have gotten lots of sheets in the past (I am over 60) that were of fewer TC, all cotton, that fell apart within one year. Get these!

Beautiful color......Not worth it. They actually keep me awake with their crackly paper sound.....stiff, noisy sheets.....yeah, just what you want! Not my idea of inviting comfort.....Never soften when washed. I just can't figure who would actually enjoy these scratchy, noisy sheets.
Go figure.

4.0 out of 5 stars Actually fits my super pillowtop, November 10, 2007
Finally, a queen set that actually fits the thicker mattress! The fitted sheet was deep enough for my 15" super pillowtop without riding up. The flat was bigger than most queen size, with enough fabric that I could tuck it under the mattress on the side. Really pretty purple color. Not as silky soft as I would have liked but that it is only 450 TC. Overall, I am happy with the set.
