4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Set
I purchased these for comercial use, hesitant about how they would hold up. After 6 months of daily use through a comercial dish washer, they have far exceeded my expectations. In fact, I'm back to purchase more.

2.0 out of 5 stars Knives do not cut well.
The blades on these knives are BADLY designed: instead of cutting a steak, it ties to tear it apart, and it does a horrible job at that. Don't waste your money on these knives.

2.0 out of 5 stars dubious quality, February 7, 2007

I just received these today and must comment on the lack of quality.
The storage case looks like it was made and then inspected in the dark. The knives are very light in weight and cut Swiss cheese adequately.
As previous reviewers have said, let the buyer beware.
Overall, Amazon should drop PINZON products as "their" housebrand.
The various PINZON products that I have purchased do not live up to the hype nor the overall quality of the Amazon service.

4.0 out of 5 stars inexpensive knives, March 2, 2006

If you are looking for a nice, inexpensive set of knives, look no further. This set is very sharp, cuts well and fits into your hand nicely. They have great balance and apperance. The box is a little cheap feeling and looking, but allows for a great storage within a drawer or cabinet.

gift box had been labeled upside down, you haved to turn box unside down to have the lid open correctly. Also knives are hollow can hear something rattling around inside of them have very sharp edges though.

These knives are great, they are sharp, light and look good. The box that the knives come in is elegant and the price is very inexpensive for such value.

It is a shame this box does not stay closed. Fine if you keep it on the counter or in a drawer from which you can open the box, but too bad for gifting and for storage.

Got these knives for super cheap price on Amazon. Love 'em. Top quality. The wood box was super and used to store something else precious to us. The knives don't go there because we use 'em all the time. Quik service. Super price. Super quality.

But functional. Great for the kids, easy to use. The kids did fight over the great box that they came in....maybe next time they will put more emphasis on the cutlery and less on the package!

I ordered these because they looked like a great deal ($20 for 8 knives) & they received good customer reviews. However, I am disappointed, but shouldn't be now that I look at this objectively. The case is beautiful, slim & flat. However, the knives are very lightweight & feel somewhat cheap. They are made in China & that's what they feel like. The look is nice, but they don't feel quite right in my hand. The edge has huge serrations which make me think they could rip a piece of meat apart rather than slice through it--I could be wrong on that guess. But I am not going to use these to find out. I will donate them to a charity auction & open the box of Henckel Eversharp steak knives that I bought 8 months ago & never used because I was thinking I would not like them (These Pinzon knives were to replace those). AFter comparing the 2 sets side by side, the Henckels easily win in weight & feel. I only paid $10 more for the Henckels so suddenly they look like a bargain, especially when I compare their retail price or $130 to the retail price of these at $46. I guess retail prices might be a better indicator of quality than I sometimes give them credit for. All in all, these knives might not be that bad, but "China" is imprinted in big letters at the base of the blade & that's the quality I'm reminded of everytime I pick them up.
