Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Get the quality of rest you deserve with a Pinzon luxury pillow just right for your needs. This Chamonix Soft Density Standard pillow, with 12 total ounces of white goose down, offers the right amount of density for stomach sleepers who need relatively flatter pillows for healthy neck and spine alignment. With its single-chamber construction and a fill power of 650, the pillow provides loft and support, along with a premium down value. Fill power indicates how many cubic inches of space an ounce of down will occupy, and anything at the 600 level is considered in the industry to be excellent. The higher the fill power, the larger and stronger the clusters of down. Large clusters provide superior insulation, breathe better, and last much longer than smaller, fragile down clusters used in many lower quality pillows.

Standard and Queen Buying Guide
The Chamonix down pillow comes with a zippered pillow protector, easily removed for cleaning at home in the washer and dryer. The pillow insert is machine washable and dryable as well. Made from Tencel cotton in a 440-thread-count dobby weave, the pillow cover features an attractive 5-inch cabana stripe pattern and is finished with a 1-inch gusset. Tencel cotton is renowned for its softness, durability, moisture absorption, and wrinkle-resistance. The end result is a pillow that offers high utility and great, easy-care looks.

The standard-sized Chamonix pillow measures 20 by 26 inches, and it's also available in queen and king sizes. In addition to soft-density construction, every size of the Chamonix down pillow is available in a medium-density and a firm-density, each with more total ounces of filling to provide the right support for the sleeping position you favor. Pick the one just right for your needs.

Fabric Definition

Tencel Cotton: Far stronger than cotton alone, Tencel is durable, comfortable, wrinkle-resistant, machine washable, has little elasticity, and is very soft. In addition, it has good moisture absorption, and good static- and heat-resistance. Tencel Cotton fabric is a blend of the cotton fiber with the trademarked, man-made Tencel fiber, uniting the good qualities of each. Like rayon, Tencel is made from cellulose derived naturally from dissolved wood pulp. Unlike rayon, Tencel is processed without producing large amounts of sulfurous waste, sometimes leading it to be labeled "low impact". Tencel producers use a closed-loop chemical process in which its solvent can be filtered and reused. Tencel fibers can be used alone or blended with cotton, flax, polyester, wool, and spandex. Tencel fibers can be knitted or woven into a wide range of fabrics, including crepes, chambrays, poplins, and twills. Tencel fibers produce "fibrillation," the forming of tiny hairs, which can give some Tencel fabrics a soft, peach-fuzz texture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Buy in Down!, March 6, 2008
I have looked for over 2 years for a quality down pillow to replace my 10 year old one (which I have loved!). After several trials & errors, I think I have found a new "best friend"!
I ordered a standard firm & it is firm- yet soft. Bounces right back to a fluffy, full pillow. I would suggest the standard size for side sleepers, as it can easily be "maneuvered" to the "perfect" position. An extra plus ~the pillow is washable & comes with an separate washable cover. I love it, & believe me, you will not find a down pillow with this much down fill at any price!

3.0 out of 5 stars average pillow; ordered in 2007, November 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After sleeping on these pillows for about 2 years, I conclude that these pillows are average. I'm sorry. I guess $90/each isn't too bad. They are noticeably better than $20 pillows. I bought two of these and 2 other 1300ct firm pillows all queen size. I currently sleep with 2 pillows and they are okay. I have definitely slept on better at the Four Seasons and other hotels. I suspect some of these hotels must have even more expensive pillows with higher weight/fill power and thread count. I'm thinking of getting ones from Hammacher Schlemmer which are 33oz each..only 4oz more and supposedly higher quality goose down. Maybe this will make a difference (they are $170/each).

I think the 5 star rating comes from people who are comparing them to $20 pillows and probably those who don't really care for really firm pillows. I like the firm yet soft pillows at the Four Seasons Hotel. I believe those are custom made though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable high quality pillow, March 25, 2008

I was looking for a reasonably priced down pillow that was actually all down (not feathers mixed in). I love the quality of the pillow protector that comes with the pillow. It is made of 440 thread count Tencel cotton (which I am happy to discover is environmentally friendly) with a 1 inch gusset around the entire pillow. I am also very impressed with it's comfort and how easy it "fluffs" back into it's original shape. Now my daughter wants me to buy her one. For that price, I just might.
