Amazon.com Product Description

A useful tool for anyone who loves to entertain, this easy-to-use wine opener by Pinzon allows for gracefully opening bottle after bottle of wine to share with family and friends. Beautifully crafted from transparent red plastic, the durably constructed unit features a steel gear mechanism and comfortable handles that effortlessly clamp onto the neck of any size bottle. Once properly positioned, all it takes is a simple push of the lever--the unit's tough, Teflon-coated worm gets driven into the cork and then, with a simple pull in the opposite direction, the cork smoothly pulls out of the bottle. No more embarrassing struggles or need to duck into the kitchen during a dinner party or evening soiree. The powerful device not only opens bottles in a mere three seconds, it also offers long-lasting performance from one year to the next (opens 1,000 bottles in its lifespan). For added convenience, the same lever action releases the cork in one swift motion. Accessories include a squeeze-and-twist foil cutter and a Teflon-coated replacement worm. The wine opener measures approximately 7-1/2 by 2-1/4 by 5-1/4 inches and should be hand washed for best results.

Product Description

Pinzon's easy-to-use wine opener effortlessly extracts a cork from any wine bottle in three seconds with simple lever action. Comfortable handles easily clamp onto a bottle's neck; the steel lever drives the tough, Teflon-coated worm into the cork with a push and then pulls the cork out cleanly with a simple pull. Releasing the cork involves the same action, only with the handles clamped onto the cork. The eye-catching opener is ruggedly constructed of red transparent plastic with a heavy-duty steel gear mechanism, and opens one-thousand bottles in its lifetime. It comes with a squeeze-and-twist foil cutter to strip away the foil covering a cork, and a replacement worm. Hand washing is recommended to preserve the beauty of the wine opener.

Works great December 27, 2007

I originally got this to give it as a gift to one of my friends. It came in a small brown box which made it look like some cheap product, so I decided that it may not be a good gift (because I thought it would probably break after using it a couple of times). The red color looks pretty and I have been using it at home for some time now without any problems. It works a lot better than the regular corkscrews and I am surprisingly pleased with this product and glad I didn't give it to my friend!

Pros: Simple to use with comfortable large handles (similar in feel to the OXO Goodgrips, minus the rubberization) and requires very little force or grip strength. Possibly a great gift for the arthritic wine connoisseur. Operates smoothly (for the most part) and is attractive with its vibrant color and flowing lines. A less expensive option that is more or less identical to the Metrokane Rabbit.

Cons: The design would really benefit from a latch to keep the arms that grasp the bottle together when being stored. They are lightly spring loaded and can cause the opener to get stuck at the back of the drawer if you're not careful. A rubber band around them solves this problem readily. The design is much bulkier than the more common design openers. When all the limbs are stowed as compact as it goes, it occupies an envelope about 2" x 8" x 5" Also removing the cork from the screw after you have the bottle open can be a chore if you don't get it right the first time. Also the foil cutter is not built into the opener but is a separate gizmo. The packaging it comes in is very minimal/unattractive and no hard copy instructions are included in the package.

All in all I still find my old opener (comparable to Pedrini Wine & Bar Waiters Corkscrew, Translucent ) to a better choice as it is much more compact (pocket sized) and just as effective, if a hair more tricky to use, plus the foil cutter is built in, not floating around in my gadget drawer.

Not bad at all April 13, 2008
Color Name:Red
It doesn't feel very sturdy....but it gets the job done. My only complaint is the lack of instructions -- since I had never used a wine opener like this before, I didn't really know how to use it. I had to figure it out on my own. I've seen this complaint about other Pinzon wine products.

Broke after 7 uses
Gave this as a gift. When visiting with the person about a month later, she said it broke after 7 uses. I tried to fix it but it appears a pin fell out.

Poor quality
I attempted to open a bottle of wine however one of the cheap plastic handles broke off. Stick with a metal opener.

Mediocre product
This product is as shown in the picture. However, you can't tell from the picture how flimsy the plastic is. The main opener does work reasonably well. Read more

This one sucks - get one that's more substantial
Don't buy this opener - the handle broke - I mean broke within 2 months of purchase. Can't use it any more - I'm ordering the original rabbit. This one sucks!

Great Buy
This is the easiest wine opener ever! It looks bulky and complicated, but once you give it a try the size doesn't matter.
